Personally, I'm not very fond of it. It is OK

its alright but u didnt do so good on the pic in the back its sort of fuzz around it

fuzz? its opacity.

it looks like a banner and the blog in a box. defaulty but ok.

the background - luks like u did it wit paint.. if u did, wow good job. but if u have photoshop or somn, try gettin the blurry stuff off. and i don feel it really goes with the layout..

i did the opacity so you can see the background because my bf made it for me.. thats the fuzzy stuff.

The BG doesn't really match with the rest. And you should make your banner the same width as your blog and module.

feedback:
1. image quality is low, that fuzziness means that you didn't save the image with a better quality
2. the blue looks totally inappropriate, where did it come from?
3. if you have a background, it's most likely you don't need a header image. either/or not and/both
4. your dates aren't center vertically very well, its kinda going up.

I think that's it.
too defaulty for my taste. good start though. at least you know your html, all you gotta do is master the layout image making and you would be on your way.

the blue dont go with the background. the dates dont stand out. the transparant should reall go or at least change the blue
