I'm a member of RCR. Those tutorials are good for beginners. They aren't realistic. Skin isn't just one color.
You might try these, I don't love the end results, skin etc. looks off but they offer some decent tips.

Incorporate colors that will make the image more natural looking. Use swatches! Avoid making eyes look alienish by making them too light.
