Ok I broke my third toe on my right foot about a month ago and since it was in such an awkward place, my doctor simply taped that toe to the two next to it to help it stay straight as it healed. Last night I took the tape off with every intention of putting new tape on but then as I was laying down with the ice pack on my toe to keep swelling down, I fell asleep and never put tape back on. Now this morning/afternoon, the skin around the toes that were taped and the skin in between them is smooth but it is flaky much like when you get a sunburn and your skin peels off only it's thicker pieces. What's going on? Is it just irritation from sweat building up and not being cleaned off?
edit:// I took the tape off last night to put ice on it and didn't get around to washing it till this morning.

Well, did you wash it once you took the tape off? It could possibly just be irritated, but if you were regularly changing the tape then it shouldn't be irritated. Perhaps you put the tape on the too tight or you're having a bit of a reaction to the tape? If you've used that type of tape before than it could just be that you need to make sure that you keep that area clean. Let your skin breath for a bit and clean it with antibacterial soap. If it doesn't feel better or go away then it might be the tape.

^^ yes exactly that really.
hahaha err i broke two toes and the same happened to me really. and my friend who also broke her toes around the same time.
it hurt so much
but i wouldnt worry, its just where the skin hasnt seen any air for a while, and air is vital for skin cells to duplicate.
if this continues though, go back to the doctor.

This is the same thing if you had a cut, then you put on a band-aid and left it all day then took it off, and it was white. You'd freak out at first and be all wtf.. but it's natural for your skin to need to readjust itself to the air around it.
