I live in Maryland. While technically Maryland is considered to be the north and I live above the Mason Dixon line I still would say I am more southern then northern. This is really because I hate northerns. They are such pricks. So defend your side. North or South!

I agree with JC. I've lived in both the south (which I'm in now) I've also lived in the north. I thought life was easier in the north, but a lot more happened there. Down here is more laid back.

In any case, I have also lived in both the north and the south. There is certainly a difference. However, the differences do not govern individual attitude towards others.

"Pricks" exist everywhere. You can't judge all of the North by the unpleasant people you met in just one or two states there.

In terms of what you can do here and how much more diversity there is than in the South, North (NYC) > South. Also, it's not as hot during the summer.

North has always been more industrialized, and therefore has more things to see and do, but if you are simple and like the easy life, not too many things to do, come to the south

I'd also like to point out that in the north (NY) it was easier to get to a lot of things, like everything you needed was within walking distance. Here in FL, everything is very spaced out. It takes me 2 hours to walk to work.. If I was forced to walk.

Way to single us out here in NJ. Haha.
The only time NJ really consists of assholes is when you are an out of state getting in our way on the raod. NJ has aggressive drivers who are speeding their way trying to get to point A to point B. I'd say even that is everywhere you go... but Idk. When I'm on the major highways there are some real idiots on the road from other states that I really want to bash my car into.

I think that north people are just generally more busy and lead more hectic lives. And south people are generally more laid back... example; people go to NYC to get high end jobs and work their ass off. Old people go to FL to retire. (Obviously that's not the reason everyone goes to florida, I love Florida). That's my two cents.

I live in MD, too...I've always considered the state to be more like northern states than southern states...but maybe that's because I live so close to DC and our style of dress and speech is more similar to that of my friends in NY and NJ.
