Everyone should have Lucas, also written by Brooks.
The-March-Hare

^ Those suck. *gasp* My girl read them and she repeats the phrases "bella glared" and stuff. Good writers don't repeat the same stuff (over and over again)

House of the Scorpion Nancy Farmer
and
Milkweed Jerry Spinelli

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller.

That's definitely one I would recommend. 1984 by George Orwell is also terrific.
superstitious
Nabokov's Lolita
William S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch
Dennis Wheatley's The Haunting of Toby Jugg

There's some other fun stuff out there, but those I consider an asset to any library's arsenal.
Foudroyant
The Five People You Meet In Heaven - Mitch Albom
The movie is interesting too.
