It was brought up, with no disrespect to the current leader, in the current contest. That we seem to lack some rules and regulation in the ____ of the month webdesign contests.
So post here if you like the current rules, or you would like to see some change.

It just sucks when there is only ONE nomination. I had a couple of sites I wanted to nominate.. but everyone who usually votes in these contests has already voted.. maybe we need another rule or something. I'll PM you later with what I'm talking about. haha. Way later though (after work later) lol

sorry to kind of butt into what youre saying here.
but it did confuse me about who was able to be nominated.
there should be a place for people to nominate.
and then a short list. it would work better rather than people just agreeing with each other because they havn't seen more than one or two websites...

you know, this isn't a bad idea. in fact. i like it. although... this might take longer to get the list together then...or ... maybe...ugh. alright .now i've gone and confused myself.

is this where the previous discussion has been brought to?
i commented highway...i cant remember the rest, but i commented her what i meant because it was kind of clogging the forum and going against the rules.

Uh if you talking about dropping out and changing votes, then just edit your previous post is all you need to do. Just take your nomination out and just add your vote in your first post.

vintage-toile proposed this;
i'm going to quote it from my comment i got from her.

thought i would speak to youhere than clog up forums.
the idea is simply to have a forum where people can all make different nominations.
then a member of staff who is willing to, can count how many of each there are and give a list of all the nominated sites with links to those sites.
then people nominate and the one wtih most votes wins.
so there's a deadline to nominate and a deadline to vote.
its just a llot simpler and cleaner. and easier to track.

I like the idea of a nomination list, and then a voting list. The only way I see this plyable, and keeping the contest in the same month, is have a 15 day nomination period, and a 15(16)(13)(14) day voting period.

If we do something like this, I think we should just make one topic like we do already, in the first 15 days of the month we only take nominations and then on the 15th we remove all the posts and then edit the first post and put up the nomination list, and by then a staff member can add a poll as well to vote for.

it makes sense if people are getting very confused about who's being nominated. because not everyone knows websites which deserve to be nominated. if there was a list, then people could view them and make a proper choice, rather than going along with everyone else because they don't know any better.
i feel kind of out of place here..not being staff..but good luck with it.

Also we (the staff) can always go back and see who has been nominated and just make a list in the first posts, so everyone knows who has been nominated so far.

haha, holly. you're not out of place. This is feedback. it's for everyone to voice their opinion :) It's reasons like this why we have a feedback forum in the first place.

But yes. That is what I like, in terms of the 15 day nominations, then the new topic with a poll with those nominations. The only thing that will suck badly if there is only one nominiation for the 15 day period. Then we just have a voting contest open for someone who has already got the nomination. LOL kind of like Mr. Mcain

hm, i don't think that there would only be 1 website in 15 days. i shant let that happen.
yay for organization!

I like the idea. And if there is only one nomination, then wouldn't it just be a default win? Where's the point in voting?
Lariat

Yeah, pretty much. That's the only thing bad. But look at the Website of the Month Contest (June 08`) He's probably going to be the winner and we're not even half way through the first week of the contest :S
But I like the idea of starting the month with an closed discussion-only nomination topic. After half way through the month, or w/e makes it half (15/16).... w/e. A person that has the capabilities would remove all the posts, or merge them with the first post so we have a list of nominations, add a poll to the topic, and allow members to vote for the person they think should win, and since all the votes are controlled by the poll, we could allow some light discussion about the nominees
