Full Version: Question about Layouts
Don't know if this is in the right place but what are the guidelines as far as people who submit layouts that look almost exactly like a previous layout, with nearly identical coding? If the original creator didn't mention anything about not stealing/jocking/changing layout, is this a matter to be reported? I just saw a layout that looks A LOT like another layout, and I don't know if this should be reported and if so, to whom. Just a question!

even if someone states the layout should not be jocked, people still do it. and even if its not stated, it shouldn't be jocked anyway because someone has still put work into it.

Yeah, well, here are the links. The first one is the "original" submitted Jul 12 2006 and the second is the one I found submitted June 1 2008.

Even though the banner and nav is different, the content box is almost exactly the same down to the Friend Pics, comment box, and black divider. And also, the coding is pretty much almost exactly the same. Maybe the second layouts creator didn't know you couldn't just alter another layout and submit it as your own? I don't know but just thought I'd bring it up.

if you look at the scrollbar in each, the colours are the same blue..
so the person has clearly used the same codes and has been silly enough to forget to change the colour of the scrollbar
its not too bad, but the same codes have definitely been used.
if you're really worried you could always PM one of the members of the CB staff and they would be able to tell you what would happen in one of these situations, because i don't know what happens.

The 2nd "jocked" layout, "Guitar DIV" has been rejected. The member has been increased with a 10% verbal warning. Official documentation of layout owner, "lipglossmama" is needed for immediate verbal warning reduction, otherwise, warning level stays "as is" for two weeks.
