That is quite frightening. I heard this on the news a while ago. I think it won't happen. Another scenario: it does happen, and an immediate strike occurs. The wealthy might put up with it a bit, but the middle class won't have any of that. The industry will collapse.

If it really does occur, I believe that another pioneer will come up with another means of communication; faster, and more efficient.

^I agree.

Not gonna happen.

The internet is huuuge, now, and they can't do that. I think I read it in a Yahoo! article a while back, and I was like, psh, yeah right.

Couple points about this video:
  1. If the future of the Internet is some guy posting a link to a YouTube video and forcing me to watch a stupid 12 min. video, instead of concisely synthesizing the idea in something I can read, then yes, I hope the Internet does die.
  2. The chick in that video has nice boobs...
  3. ...but she is an attention whore. You might remember her from a blog in which she claimed she'd commit suicide in 90 days, or a blog in which she offered to sleep with any virgin who agreed to fight for net neutrality. To paraphrase a famous tattoo in Memento, don't believe her lies.
  4. This video has a lot of claims with few facts. Fortunately, CreateBlog has a Friendly Local Computer Scientist that knows this video is bullshit. Simple reason: Business. An unrestricted ISP would fare much better in the market place than a restricted one. Second reason: The EU. 'Nough said (but I can supply more reasons if need be).
  5. If nothing else, a group of hackers can just hack the Gibson.

That is probably the best post I've seen here in a very long time.

The video is founded in hyperbole.

I don't believe it at all.

ITS IMPOSSIBLE! pinch.gif

The only way the Internet will "CrAsH" is if Some Big Hi-TECH HACKER Goes into The FCC or THE BIG MACHO MOTHERBOARD showoff.gif that leads to All the Servers that link world-wide on the planet...

that would be impossible!

the Motherboard has a 100,000 Digit Passcode that isn't Accessible, it would Take years maybe even decades to crack it.. worthy.gif

Addendum: I totally would have taken her up on this offer, too, except that I didn't meet the one and only criterion. This is the only time in my life when not being a virgin completely f**ked me over -- no pun intended.

No, she'd be able to tell because -- and I don't mean to brag -- but I'm really, really good at sex.
Melissa
but she wouldn't know you're really, really good until you're being really, really good, right? and if you're as good as you claim to be, i doubt she'll be stopping you then... :)

All I can say is LOL.

My favorite part?
"Companies only look at money. They only care about making money, that's their goal."

Psh like this will ever happen, and I agree, even if it were to happen, someone like Gates, a super genius would come out of nowhere and show us something that will make the internet look like those tin cans and wire phones we used to play with when we were younger.

Probably the only true statement in the entire video.

Yep. Bill Gates is the most likely candidate to come out and fight corporate monopolies.

As far as the video is concerned. Highly doubtful.
