My website, overlookedd.com, used to show up in google searches. Now it does not. I also do not have a page ranking. I submitted a site map to google webmasters tools, and i also have verified my site. my site does not contain any inappropriate content, and i don't use any affiliate programs or search engine bot programs, or whatever they are called.

can anyone tell me why i don't show up in google searches anymore? i recently switched from php to html. I was wondering if this could have caused a problem. any feedback would be very much appreciated.

i don't think i have. thanks!

any other suggestions?

it's showing up fine for me; was there a certain keyword your site isn't listed for anymore?
turniphead-stuff
yea. i used to show up first under blank stylesheets
now, i don't show up all.

you're 133 on Google for "blank stylesheets" and 44 on Yahoo. it just looks like you've run into some competition these past few months. what was your pagerank before?
turniphead-stuff
ohh.. i only looked through like 5 or 6 pages on google, because most people don't go passed 5 or 6 pages.
thanks for searching for me!
i've never had a page rank. it's always been 0/10.
i can't figure out why i don't won't/don't rank.
i mean, i would be happy with just a one, so i would at least rank.

haha, i didn't actually search. there's a firefox plugin called rank checker that allows you to type in a url and a keyword and see where you're listed on Google, Yahoo & MSN.

as for your PR, it's based entirely on back links. the more people you have linking to you, the higher your pagerank will be. it always helps to have high PR sites linking to you as well. basically, every site that links to yours is kinda like a vote in your favor. on the other hand, if you simply share links (i.e, a site links to you in exchange for you linking to them), it doesn't really help you, which is why i would try to stay away from having 50 "affiliates" linked from your page, unless they are high ranking websites.

there are discrepancies around how often Google's PR robot is sent out. sometimes it's every 3 months, sometimes every 4 months sometimes 5 or 6. it's pretty random. the last time PR was updated with 3 months ago, and it's estimated to run through again in a little over a week. all you can do is push to get high quality links in to your website.

you have 116 back links right now, all from PR 0 sites, which doesn't help very much. although, because you have so many links going to you, you'll probably jump up to a 2 or 3 once the robot updates. if you're affiliated with cB, it should help out a little, because cB has a PR 5.

how long has your site been opened?
turniphead-stuff
this website has been opened since the end of feb. 2008. now, my other site, turniphead-stuff.com, has been opened since dec. 2007, but i quit that site. i deleted all the pages.

a couple of my affiliates has page ranks of 2-4. i know not a lot of them do, but some of them do, and i am affiliated with createblog.

thanks everyone for your help. i will see what i can do about getting high page ranked affiliates/links out..

it's more beneficial for you to get links in rather than links out. Google hates it if you link to 1,000 pages but no one links to you.

i've found the best way to do this is to find a very popular blog (usually a professionally written one, as they most often have the highest page rank). if you comment on the posts, you can usually leave your website. doing that would give you an extra link to your site without you adding another link out of your site.

basically, it settles down to +1 points for every site that links to you, and +0 points for every site that you link to. if you go link crazy, and list too many sites on your site without having links in, then a lot of times Google penalizes you for that.

so, would it be beneficial if i linked my website in my createblog signature?

Yes. But blog comments won't necessarily help you because most of the time they are marked "no follow". If you're in Firefox right-click the link and choose "Properties" to see.

What I recommend, join Google Adsense. I think Google spiders your page more often if you're an Adsense publisher, which makes sense because they need to know which ads to display to match your latest content.
