JUANES!
anyone else exposed to this guy's music via spanish classes? even the chinese radio station that I've been listening to plays his music lol.
his popular songs are pretty catchy:
me enamora,
a dios le pido,
gotas de agua dulce. He has a couple of duets with Nelly Furtado, but I found the songs to be somewhat mediocre.
so what are some of your favorite foreign artists?

Astrud Gilberto (Brazil) is one of my all time favorite artists. I had one of her songs up on my cB Profile for a long time (The Girl From Ipanema).
Sample Fela Kuti (Nigeria) is another one of my favorites. Great fun to listen to, fantastic beats and melodies. I highly recommend checking him out. Here's a
LastFM link, that showcases a tad more.
And from Japan - UFO (United Future Organization). They've been a favorite of mine for several years.

Rebecca, my radio station has a specialty show of Brazil called The Show From Impanema, that I'd podcast a lot. Haha.
I like a lot of Swedish artists, and a couple of my favorite bands at the moment are from Denmark: Efterklang and Slaraffenland. And they're going to be in Atlanta next week!
Eh, a lot of the stuff I listen to isn't from the US, so if I were to name them off it'd be a rather long list.

I love Younha (jpop/kpop, but sometimes on the rock-ish side?). I heard "Houkiboshi" and was all ZOMG!!! and went on a downloading frenzy.
I tend to stay away from jrock because of the, uh, growliness and screaming. XD

My guilty pleasure is a German band called Tokio Hotel. =x
I also listen to a lot of French artists, such as Corneille (well, 'kay, french-canadian, but it still applies), Raphael, Garou, Emmanuel Moire, Francoise Hardy, to name a few.
Filipino bands, such as Parokya ni Edgar, Sarah Geronimo, Regine Velasquez, Christian Bautista, Rachel Alejandro, etc.
Italian singers and artists... Including Antonello Venditti, Subsonica, Dean Martin, Goffredo Mameli, Mario Lanza, Vasco Rossi, etc.
Ooh, and not to mention Belanova!<3
There are more, but those are the particulars I can name at the top of my head. And of course, jpop/rock and kpop/rock singers, which would be too long if I listed it. =s
