I seriously got fucking warned for quoting pictures of Culver's?
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...p;#entry2932094
On top of that, it was 4 days ago. Obviously it wasn't hurting that much.

Wtf? Eat my shit, Ruth.
Insurmountable
Yes, we have made it a rule to warn anyone that quotes images without taking out the tags. Its been a rule for a very long time, and everyone should know it by now.

Getting warned up to 10% acts as a verbal warning, once you get your warning level raised to 20% is when you will lose your official member status.
Deetard
LMAO that's ridiculous. I'm so sorry for quoting Dee's posted about a fast food restaurant, Ruth. I swear it'll never happen again! Please forgive me!

Also, do your job. I shouldn't have to look through my posts to see when I quoted an image because it was 4 days ago.
Deetard
Consistency, right?

Why weren't they warned, rather they simply got a "next time you'll get warned" quote?
Elba
I thought that rule only applied to MP?

whoa whoa whoa, i did not know this was a rule, don't go dragging me into this. this is your problem not mine. you're the official member. i just recently started posting posts in the forum. i did not know that this was a rule, calm yourself. your warning will probably disappear in a couple of days.

ESPECIALLY since everyone has been doing it.
jaeminnie
Tiffany, please don't double-post. Use the Edit link at the bottom of your post.

The warning system applies to members who have been here long enough to know the rules, and to all forums, not only Members' Photos. However, it's listed in the community guidelines, so ideally all members should abide by the rule and not quote images.

That's where you're wrong. Take off my warning.

Just so we're all clear: Starting from today, all People Staffers will warn members who quote images even though they know better than to do that. Remove the image tags for them, then raise their warning level.
Deetard
Which is posted Backstage, dumbass. Can I see Backstage? I don't think so. Take off my warning.
jaeminnie
I quoted that post in the previous Members' Photos as well, and I just edited the OP in the current version with it.
Deetard
I GOT WARNED FOR A POST IN FOOD, NOT MEMBERS' PHOTOS!
Deetard
Point proven. Take off my warning.

i'm sorry, why is it that you can't double post? is it like spam or something? or does it take up some sort of bandwidth deal?

and the whole images in quotes, what's the reason why we can't do that? is it for some sort of organization purpose or for all the kids who have dial up? because that's just ridiculous.

edit and i'm confused, does this only apply to Member's Photos or the entire community board now?! because you should remove spencer's warning if you're saying that this only applies to Member's photos when he did this in the food's thread.
jaeminnie
Yeah, it constitutes spam.

Spencer, I couldn't lower your warning level even if I wanted to since I have to wait a while before I can do that.
Deetard
Well get someone that can. kthanx
jaeminnie
One of the administrators can do so if they wish when they get online.

Tiffany, spam is addressed here.
Elba
It's not in the community guidelines. Also, if it's in that CG updates topic, it should be ADDED to the actually CG. I only see that rule in the MP threads.
jaeminnie
I updated the community guidelines and FAQs already.
IWantHugs
So why do you guys delete shit that isn't against the rules?
Insurmountable
Well what exactly was deleted? Do you remember what you posted, sorry I didn't see it and I don't have access to the Trash Can.

Nothing, EVER should be deleted. No complete post should ever be deleted, no matter how bad it is. The best thing to do is to remove the harsh things out of it and leave the rest of it. We have done this in the past, if anything we shouldn't even touch the post to leave "evidence".

Personally I thought the thumbing of images and removing image tags was only to Member photos, since its where the problem is mainly. But if its going to the rest of the forum, then I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but I don't think anyone should be warned except after TODAY, after it has been announced that everyone will receive a warning if they are found not taking out image tags or thumbing larger images.

I think this rule should go for everyone, we have the rules at the top of the forums, and its not like a 10% raised warning is that big of a deal, so it should apply to everyone. Although, officials, you should no better by now.

If you had to do that, there should be no reason as to why I should receive a lowered warning level.
Insurmountable
I think the way we should solve this.

Today, it has been announced that the staff will warn any member that fails to remove images tags or thumb larger images on the forums. And the community guidelines have been updated as well.

SO any punishments that were given before this, should be removed.
superstitious
Correct and his warning level has been reduced accordingly.
Insurmountable
Great, so is there any other problem now?

Elba
So this is definitely a forum-wide rule? Why weren't we told this before?
superstitious
The CG's should have been updated, they weren't.

It's a good idea to look over them periodically, as individual announcements are not made every time the guidelines are updated. Of course in this case, it wouldn't have helped, which is why I lowered Spencer's warn level.

Thinking about it, there should be a way to communicate changes. I just don't want a new thread every time something happens or something is changed. I'll think on it. If you guys have some suggestions as to how to alert people of changes, I'm all ears, I love suggestions.

The only thing I can think of right now is informing people that it's a rule the first time they violate a newer guideline (and point out the guideline). Then after that, issue a warning.

I've had a lot going on in my personal life and haven't had a lot of time to do things online, so I'll take responsibility for the CG's not getting updated.
Insurmountable
Why not post in the quick announcements thread? o_O

Cristy, thanks for the rules thing. but you've yet to answer my question of why it's such a big deal that you have to take the img code out when quoting. i'm just curious that's all. and did this whole img quoting thing just apply when spencer got warned or has it always been the rule?

EDIT; Never mind, i understand. alright so it is a forum wide thing now. that's nice to know, after making an example out of someone.

Elba
So why did Ruth warn Spencer when no one was told you guys were going to be enforcing member photo thread rules in the food forum?
karmakiller
I thought that the rule was already announced. But now that everyone's up to date on it, I think it should go for ALL members, not just OMs. I don't really think it's fair that people get warned the first time they do it. shrug.gif

There was a lot of discussion about that a while back. It's just more convenient when loading pages, and it saves space. If everyone quoted an image that they wanted to talk about, there would be a lot more scrolling to do, which would be annoying. Also, it's silly to quote an image that's directly or a few posts above yours when you could just say, "[Username], [comment here]" or quote their text but not the image. It's been the rule for a long time.

Dee, Rebecca said that here:

Miscommunication and the lack of following up. I've already apologized for not updating the CG's when they should have been and have lowered Spencer's warn level.
Melissa
Wasn't it Ruth who thought it wasn't a big deal in the first place? Way to be inconsistent. That said, I don't see why it's such a big deal. If it's getting out of hands, don't People Staff have the ability to edit them out? Someone should get a PM first before s/he has his warning automatically raised. And instead of getting up in everyone's asses with warnings, I don't understand why People Staff can't just do their jobs and edit when half the new People Staff don't do shit anyways.

And dude, it's not like there's SO MANY images anywhere else in the forums other than pictures. It's a stupid rule.

Oh, also, yknow how when you quote somebody who's quoted somebody else, but in your quote, the quote that s/he quoted doesn't show up? Is there anyway micron can format it so when you quote somebody, the image tags automatically disappear?
TiffanyFactorial
OH! a really good way is to either notify everyone by inbox or maybe when they enter the forum a little pop-up like the ones you guys created for new PMs comes up and announces the new rule. and they just have to click a little checkbox that will mean that they read it and understand the new rule. if they continue to make that mistake that happens to be against the rule, a warning will result. good idea? yeah? well i'm only suggesting this because i'm pretty sure not everyone will take the time to read a thread but if it's a popup, they'll have to.

QUOTE

i was about to ask the same thing!
jaeminnie
Yes, but that's why we all started to be consistent about the rule as of May 2nd. Just because People Staff has the power to edit people's posts for them doesn't mean they should have to clean up after members who know not to quote images and are too lazy to edit the image tags out.

I've brought that up before. It would be nice to have images appear in URL format instead of as images in quoted replies.
Tung
....

this isn't even a problem in 10+ forums i go to. people quote images all the damn time. stubborn.gif

Consistent as of May 2nd? Bullshit. I linked you to 2 posts that had quoted images in them that were made AFTER May 2nd. And they were only edited because I said something. I would call that far from consistent.
jaeminnie
I didn't see those replies.
Deetard
Then it's not consistent.
Tung
That's why you guys need staff members who are consistent and actually check ALL parts of the CC, and not just 1-2 subforums. *cough cough*

true that. but i'm guessing there are just too many threads that they can't keep up?

Hardly a reason.
TiffanyFactorial
then they're randomly selecting threads they find could have posts that they may be able to edit and are too lazy to do their job. oh never mind, that just gets back to what tung was saying. they need to their darn jobs.
