Isn't it really annoying when people steal your layout coding? And then hardly change your layout and submit it on here?

It's happened a few times to me, and i wouldn't even care if they'd just asked.

Just found one today by 'blarnee' looked at his website 'blarnee.com' and found a lot of peoples layouts, on that site, claimed as his =\

Even the site has stolen coding from cb.

i find that most people who complain about code thievery are those who don't handcode most of their shit anyway. you could almost guarantee most, if not all, cb layouts have copied and pasted codes in one form or another.

YEAH I'VE HAD MY LAYOUTS STOLEN BEFORE, BUT IT'S EVEN WORSE WHEN YOU MAKE A BUNCH OF LAYOUTS FOR A WEBSITE, THEN THAT WEBSITE'S ADMIN GETS PISSED AT YOU AND TRIES TO DISCREDIT YOU BY GETTING RID OF ALL YOUR LAYOUTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR LAYOUTS WERE SUBMITTED EARLY ON TO GET THE SITE UP AND RUNNING

Hi. Found this thread by accident but I thought I should just clear things up.

Blarnee.com (or at least the Layouts portion) was a clone script of cb I created for a member on here. Sorry for not crediting any of the layouts I use to demo it, but as it's not a real layout site (seriously, there are 4 test members. lol). I didn't think it was that important to. It's only there as a reference for me to show prospective clients but I will add a "created by createBlog.com" members tag to any layouts I didn't create for the demo.

hey this is aimed towards barnee, why didnt you tell any of the designers then that you were going to "borrow" the layouts? also if it was a test site then why is it on the main naviation on your page?
your claim seems faulty, not? go home .

Well, I can guarentee you that none of the layouts here are 100% original. That's why we have a script section. People borrow them and modify them to their liking and include them in their layouts. They don't go through the trouble of trying to figure it out on their own. And why would they when they can just search it here and get a code for it. If someone takes your modified code and complete layout code than they lack originality.

I'm not paranoid. I was... uhm... tired. Yeah.

@Skylite. I think I have the right to link customers to a script I created for demonstration purposes. Note that it says "Layout script" and not "Liek click heir for mye funky layoutz site". :)

I'd also add that most (if not all) of the script coders out there simply don't have the time to go individually asking layout creators for their permission in advance. (Sorry, but it's true).

I can understand you guys would hate to think someone's taking your work and claiming it as their own, but if you look at it from our perspective - none of our customers are going to get (or use) your layouts in the version they receive. These people are also too busy to have a myspace, so it's not like your codes being used on their profiles either :)

That said, I've added created by members of createblog.com messages to many of the layouts - hopefully that'll do for now :)

Blarnee, that does look an awful lot like CB - as far as I know, the script Jusun (our webmaster) has used is not open source and he may take issue with the code being used for another site. Have you looked into whether or not this may be a problem legally?

It doesn't really bother me that much. I guess I could really care less. I mean if someone takes my codes, and changes them up a bit, great at least their learning and using the codes. Its not like their really stealing something I created by scratch. That would be like the group or who ever that created Html or CSS telling everyone that we were stealing their codes XD

Jocking has never really bothered me I guess. I mean when I first started out and people did it, it really ticked me off. But after being through all this for a few years now, I don't care for it anymore.

Yeah it would bother me too. Luckily the people that have used my stuff ( graphics ) have asked me for permission and creditted me. I wouldn't say no, it's just good to be considered. + I like knowing if people like my stuff enough to use it.

The moment you put anything up on the Internet, you should really consider that you are opening yourself up to being copied and whatnot. I mean, it's completely understandable for people to get upset about having their stuff stolen, but it's to be expected. I myself have found my work littered around, and I've even been accused of stealing something that I myself made--but that's what you get on the web. Imitation is the best form of flattery, and the only thing you can really do to avoid it is just not post anything up. Take solace in the fact that they want to be like you, but you're the real thing. LOL

I don't mind if people use my coding without crediting(its not that great anyways) and honestly, i dont really see what the big deal is.

i agree with something similar to what Insurmountable said. as long as they change it up a bit im fine. and they are learning to so your kinda helping them in a way.

I made a girl one for her and her friend and their club and she claimed that she made them herself and i cant remember what i said but her friend started bitching at me and calling me a liar and made it sound like i took the work from her.
It was irritating.
