I want to bleach the underneath portion of my hair blonde. My hair is currently a dark brown and my mom is worried that it will turn orange. A few months ago, I went to Chicago 29 and got my hair stripped, and they tried to color it a light brown, and it turned out orange.

My question is, does dark hair always turn orange when you bleach it? Because I've seen other girls with dark hair bleach theirs, and it turns out just fine. Did the hairdresser just do it wrong? I want to go to a lady here in town that's more professional, but I don't want my hair to turn orange.

Help? :]

I have black hair and I just bleached parts of it a couple months ago. It's not going to turn blonde right away, especially if you do it at home (if it does turn blonde right away, chances are you've destroyed your hair).

It will probably turn orange after your first session, so just do it gradually. I bleached little by little once a week (40 vol, one hour each) for four weeks and did crazy deep conditioning/reconstructing. My hair's at a decent shade of blonde (only because I ran out and haven't bought any more, lol).

if u have dark hair HELL YEAH it will turn orange! thats like asking "i have long hair...but if i cut it off... will it be short?"
just go to a hair salon and be like "look honey i want this shit blonde dont give me anything else or i'll cut you"
cuz like i know u can make your hair blonde. but at home bleeching with just like peroxide will make it orange if your hair. is. dark.

My moms a hair dresser and i told her i wanted some blonde highlighs in my hair so she bleached it and ever since, it's stayed blonde =]
Only problem is, if you want to go dark again, the bleached parts of your hair will be lighter and will probably wash out and be blonde again ahaha

I've been toying with the idea of going a lot lighter myself, and as far as I understand it you've got to increase the color in increments rather than going straight for a bleaching. Face it, it looks unnatural, damages your hair and will probably go ginger if your hairdresser is unsure on the correct amount of color to put on.

Yes. In the beginning when I had it done my hair turned orange and I dyed it brown and highlighted again and got my color.

Yes bleach your hair in order to get a light color in you hair

i have really dark/black hair and i bleached it when i got red highlights (i worked in a hair salon and it was "requested" that i have something done to my hair). the highlights turned out nice but once they started fading they turned a copper color... now that my hair's grown out, what's left is kind of like blondish. my hair stylist said that no matter what color you dye it, if you bleach it once the color fades away thats what you're going to get. so it will probably turn out nice at first, but most likely you'll end up with the same results.

Lol, I just tried to bleach a streak of my hair, and it turned orange, but that was because I did it immediately over some purple dye. I look like a parrot.

Yeah, if you're going to go lighter with your hair, it may be best to let someone do it for you so you can get it on the first time. A lot of the time, it will need extra time to set as well before the orangey-ness goes away. I did some ash-blonde highlights a few months back on my own over dark brown, though, and they turned out okay. I just had to leave it in for a while until the color actually came through.

laugh.gif loool.gif the orange hair part happened to me once. it was all my aunts fault. she put hair bleaching stiff in my hair. i was so pissed. it took me 3 years to FINALY get it back to normal.
