I thought it started last fall in Paris because of Balenciaga.

Anyways, I like the trend, but I find scarves very distracting. ermm.gif

keffiyahs/shemaghs.

They're generally known as mufflers in the UK and in Asia. In Asia, this trend started way over a year ago. I picked up on it late. sad.gif
DoubleJ
Now pharrell was the first one with the scarves, but not the keffiyahs.
Hey, where do you get yours from, if you don't mind me asking.
Tung
^ wtf?

javonn, urban outfitters and metropark has some nice ones.
DoubleJ
gratzi Tung!
Tung
I knew about this trend a while now, but I was browsing the Urban Outfitters online store, and noticed they had the nice purple scarf, so I ordered it. I mean it was only $18.99 haha so why not. I'm not going to be an addict though. Plus, I don't think it's really for warmth as more of style.
Rosalin
looks fenimine

You've clearly never been to Valparaiso, Indiana. I swear, we're the next Williamsburg or something...
Gigi
I've never really gotten into the whole fringe scarf thing, but my guy friend had one, and I tried to wear it, and he laughed at me. Apparently there's a technique LOL.
Archana
fringe scarves <3 oh so cute
ChangeofHeart

whhhattttt.

if anything, you do.
Joanne
To me, they're a 'scenester's accessory but I still really want one.

I think they can look really good on certain people, but look like something went horribly wrong on others.

Take me for example: When I put one on, it ends up looking like a bunch of shredded newspapers. =\
misoshiru
but i'm not a scenester. sad.gif
Just_Dream
That looks more of a magenta.

Anyways, it does look pretty cute. But I've never actually seen a guy wear it. I've only seen pictures on the models at store websites that sell it.
misoshiru
^that's cuz you haven't been to asia lately. all the guys in asia wear those scarves. or at least all the guys in east asia do.
Joanne
They just make me think of of scenesters... my friend who wears them isn't one either =P

... but then again, he looks funny with them on.
stephinika
I think some guys look great with 'em. I have a couple myself, just got one the other day from UO thats a mauve/taupe-y colour. It just all depends what you wear them with.

ah totally saw the trend going on at the mall a month ago. hollister mannequins with barely any fabric on the bodies, and a...SCARF. new way of accessorizing (is that even a word?) I suppose. I might try one on someday to see if I can pull it off, although I have a feeling that it'll just make me look incredibly short.

before that visit to the mall a month ago, I hadn't been to the mall since summer late back to school shopping lol.
Tung
^ so you went to the mall only ONCE in the last 7-8 months O_O. holy hell...how do you do that? if i haven't been to the mall in 3 weeks max, i start to panic.
doiink
if I don't have anything to spend, I don't go to the mall. plus, I never had the time. sounds like bs, I know, but tis all true. it's not like I didn't want to though sad.gif

oh wait when I went to taiwan I bought a jacket lol

I feel the exact same way about them except I don't want one. I'd look ridiculous anyway. It's one of the many things I can't pull off.
Insurmountable
Sadly I've never been able to wear a scarf or hats, I look so bad with them sad.gif
DoubleJ
I remember when I used to wear fitteds......I used to be so fly in them.
misoshiru
i don't think of them necessarily as scenester. In no way am I a scenester, but I love fringe scarves or just square scarves in general.
DoubleJ
It is all about looking good at the end of the day.
