Soooo, I've been losing weight. Eating healthy and going to the gym. I'm not an idiot when it comes to nutrition, but I'm deffinately not a professional. I've been doing a low carb high protein deal and working on making working out a habit. I've made it this far and I'm 10lbs shy of my goal. The scale hasn't been moving, and it's becomming quite the motivation killer. Anyone have any tips or anything that would point me in the right direction?

It happens.... as you lose more weight, it becomes harder to lose. You need to push harder. Hit the treadmill even harder. Lower the calorie intake and make sure you keep eating 5-8 meals with at least 1 gallon of water a day.

I would recommend fat loss supplement, but you gotta be careful with those... just don't give up.

On top of that, no cheat meals fo' you! Normally I eat 1 cheat meal a week.... but if I have to, I'll have 1 cheat meal a month. That's like... 3 slices of pizza in a whole month lol.

Calibrate your scale to be 10lbs more.

No, just kidding. It definitely takes time. My boyfriend has told me that the best way to measure your progress is to take a measuring tape and measure your waist. How long have you been doing this? Don't lose hope. I wouldn't recommend overworking your body to get there.

Oh also keep in mind... that your weight fluctuates through out the day. Best time to check your weight is right after you wake up, not in shoes either. If you have to do #2, then do that first after wakin up, then check weight.

Carbs are important. Eat them with every meal.

As you lose weight, you require less calories. Incrementally decrease your intake.

Sleep is important for off-setting cortisol, a catabolic hormone. Get ample rest.

I don't even notice a difference with ZMA because I already sleep so long.

Same here... I was told if you sleep those extra 2 hours (10 hours total) that it'll be more beneficial than ZMA. Sleep > ZMA

Muscle weight cannot be gained while on a calorie deficit. It's impossible to produce muscle mass and lose body fat simultaneously.

Now this is my kind of thread. Dare I say that reidar and tama need to start a fitness thread with their tips and suggestions? That is actually a good idea for the podcast as well.

I still lift free-weights, because it does my body good. LOL. I take measurements, but I haven't done that lately. So far I've lost almost 20lbs, which is good, but I just have these last 10lbs to go and then I think I'll look killer wink.gif

I've had people tell me that I should go one day with a higher amount of calories and then lower them the next day. There are still some crappy foods that I eat, but the temptation is around me everyday. My brother just told me "Self control, missy". And it's true, but in the long run I'd like to be able to enjoy some foods. I've crash dieted before, which I think messed up my metabolism, so I'm not like most people, lol.

Weight loss suppliments I'll pass.

sad.gif Losing weight is frustrating. I lift free-weights when I have the chance, and I've noticied the difference eyebrowes.gif (Of course I gotta lose the fat that covers up my progress in some areas, lol) I make it sound like I look really gross.

Gaining weight is much harder for me. If I slack off of eating for just one day, I lose weight.

Weightlifting doesn't burn fat, by the way. You should still do it when cutting weight, but not under that impression.

This is called zig-zagging. Its worth is increasing testosterone levels (girls produce testosterone, just less of it), which are diminished on a calorie deficit. Testosterone has fat-burning properties.

Guys.. I can tell you now that I know for a fact as of now, Reidar and I are more educated in health in general than most if not all of you. Of course Reidar is more intelligent in this field as some of the things he's brought up I totally forgot about, specially the details involved in his posts.

If you have a question in regards to diet and working out, ask but expect the right answer comin from Reidar or myself.

There's a problem out there, sort of a trend where people are misinforming others and causing a lot of damage to those poor people only because they took the first advice of things. Your body/health is very important, don't mess around with random ideas for your health.


No disrespect to anyone else who's tryin to help, of course.

What do y'all think about animal paks? My drill sergeant gave them to me when I was in school while working out, and they seemed to give me more of a boost.

They're awesome! But make sure to eat something prior to taking those. For me... if I don't eat something I'll get nauseous within 10 minutes after taking them. And they're great for gym, take those about 30 minutes to an hour prior to gym... and you'll rip the weights apart. I use those as my multi-vitamins lol.

Now what if you are like me and just getting back into the swing of things? I am working out tonight for the first time in about 10 months. I haven't decided on a gym yet, as I don't feel gym worthy. I know that when I go back into one though, I am going to be a rat like always.

And be a lil more specific... I'll see if I can give you an idea... first thing before gym ever comes to mind, is "diet" when you have that down, at least for a month in my recommendation, then you'll be ready for gym.
