i love what SkyliteX did!

try to do something really creative and off the beaten track, something individual.
because school can be boring..and school websites can be boring too, so make something unique, so use all diferent shades of oranges and blues, pastels would be very nice because its almost summer.
but choose something which appeals to both boys and girls (if in a mixed school) so you need to get your colours right at the very start.
you could post the HEX codes here for us to take a look?

good luck biggrin.gif

yeah i understand what ur saying... hmm .. well what should i start out with? and also i kinda like the concept of your website... i kinda want to do that idea

do a bit of research on other school sites and maybe layouts for websites etc.
do a colour swatch of all the colours you might like to use, and perhaps gather images you would use as well?

i always find this a good starting point for any project _smile.gif

what i do for ideas is check out premade layouts on this site:

http://www.templatemonster.com/

also i would suggest checking out this topic as well. good pointers in here.

http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...=199928&hl=

another place you can go to for ideas is here.

deviantart.com

at the top left you should see a tab that says categories. click on the little arrow, click on design interfaces and then click on web interfaces. it will show you all of the web designs that other people have created.

i hope some of the resources are helpful for you as they are for me.
wildncrazyath3rt
thanks.
yeah the colors im going to use..
- orange
- blue
and grey.

i have some pictures the teacher gave me to put up.. hmm.. lol im still stuck

can i pop in some advice? i don't find a mix of grey blue and orange to be really appealing. it rather sounds ugly. but since blue and orange are pretty much set in stone, try white instead of grey. idk, just my opinion.

yea, blue and orange remind of bright things where grey reminds me of black and white, but if u can make it work then go for it :]

Orange and blue ARE very difficult colors to balance.

I'd suggest using blue as your main color, with splashes and text of orange balanced with white.

Your best bet is to surf the net for other school sites and jot down which aspects of those layouts appeal to you.

It's essentially going to be your design, so there's no way to get out of actually sitting down and planning the website out.

You need to pinpoint content which NEEDS to be incorporated and decide how you would like to incorporate those (colors, content, images, etc). Then you need to outline the sections/pages of your site and their respective content and move onto the design.

Once you get enough ideas, its basically of matter of figuring out how to incorporate them harmoniously while maintaining good aesthetics.

ill try to mess around with some brushes and text to see how it comes out.. and then ill post it. I mean i have everything written out for me.. i just have to come up with a layout.

not be harsh or anything, but it looks extremely plain and amateur. you might want to browse some other school sites to get some ideas as mentioned before.

it looks more like a personal site than a school site.

I agree with agiri; I suppose you haven't designed a school website before, so looking at various school sites will give you some great ideas & keep trying things out...hopefully you will come up with something fairly nice

its a good start, but the pink, seems to be a little random, and the text a bit to scratchy, it also looks a bit plain, also just a tip when using dreamweaver, you should have you navi and content start on the same point, like ur navi looks smaller than ur content, sometimes it gets misaligned in dreamweaver, but its a good start, but I would recommend looking for more inspiration :]] thumbsup.gif
