when it gets like this, i think you have to talk about not talking on the phone. like ask her if you're doing anything wrong or if there's something bothering her.
there has to be a reason. i don't think the relationship is turning bad, i think everyone goes through a time like this.

The best way to keep conversations is using keywords about topics. For example, say that you tell her, "I like zoos, the animals are cute" then she'll hopefully say yeah I like them too, I like [this type of animal]. Then talk about that animal, scientifically, or somethin that happened in the past, and whatever sentence she uses pick a certain keyword and turn that into a topic. Trust me.

How long have you been dating?
Most relationships go through this. I went through this with everyone of my ex boyfriends but can't quite remember anything of the sort with my current boyfriend.
There could be the problem of a lack of interests between the two of you, or it could just be shyness of a new relationship. More than likely the second one, and it'll get better than. Just bring up random things, she'll more than likely respond to whatever you say.

My current boyfriend & I went through this...because we know so much about each other already; his day to day activite's routine & so is mine so that really leaves less to talk about. Sometimes we just take turns bringing up subjects to talk about & then if we have nothing really to say we either hang up or if we have that kind of time we fall asleep on each other because we like hearing each other breathe & in the middle of the night we might wake up & start talking...it all depends on your situation, you can make it work for you two or just simply hang up & talk another day

Sometimes you spend too much time together so you end up having nothing to talk about.

Try limiting it to once a day or less so you guys can discuss more things.

This is currently what me and my boyfriend are going through, as well. More so of the fact that I'm extremely shy. He usually does all the talking and I'm strung along trying to keep up, haha. But we talked to each other about not talking to each other, and he's fine with me not being AS talkative as other girls or his other friends. Just be open with your significant other and tell her that the silence is worrying/bothering you. Ask her how she feels about it as well.
Or, LoveToMySilas' suggestion is good -- spend the day away from each other and do your own thing. You'll have much more to talk and catch up with each other about. :]

i went through this with an ex. i really wasn't much of a phone person. i'm still not. at the time, he was, so he just kept me on the phone even when he didn't have something to say. hahaha. it's retarded. anyway, i think you should limit your phone time -- talk a little bit throughout the day. that way you still get to check up on each other, make sure everything's okay & whatnot, and you won't have to deal with long awkward silences. i hope that helps [:

Happening way to much! hahaha
But I like spending time with him. Basically I call him everynight before I sleep and we just talk about whatever, and usually I have saved up topics from earlier today to bring out now. Like gosssip or commenting the Tv show i'm watching blah blah blah.
But we spend a lot of time in silence too because he's too busy being distracted by WoW and so, I'm the only one basically talking. Recently I just babble on and when silence comes, sometimes he falls asleep on the phone. I got to do that last night except he woke me up to ask if he could hang up to play wow. @_@;; ugh.

just be random
look at other things. mention them. talk about your day. teach her songs. tell her to teach you songs. tell her to make funny noises, act like a chicken for you. talk about the weather. talk about your voice. you know.. its just whatever pops into your mind.
if you dont like being random, you can just hang up. nothing wrong with not talking for a while.

Me and my boyfriend talk on skype, so it wont cost us nothing.
Neways, i live in europe right now, and he's NYC, but we still manage to talk every day, and sometimes all day, but we dont care if theres silence every now and then, i dunno, we pretty feel comfy wit the silence, as long as we know that the other person is right there on the other hand, so we end up doin different things, like id do a layout, and hed play video games, or we watch a movie together, like press play at the exact same second ;), or surf the web together, go online-shopping together .. .. corny i know .. i dunno how it is between ya'll, but silence doesnt mean that there is smthg wrong in ur relationship .. at least not to me ..

i agree, sis.
there are times when my hubby and i talk and we both are just sitting there on the phone just enjoying each other's voice. he's in iraq and i'm in ks so the times that we do spend on the phone are meaningful but it doesn't have to consist of something very important. sometimes we just talk about our feelings. like, i tell him i miss him and i'm glad to hear from him. but, if it is bothering you, why not ask your gf if it bothers her? if it doesn't then you don't have anything to worry about.
