Has anyone bought Atonement or seen it? I bought it the other day and I was a little disappointed it didn't have a happy ending. Any way.. it was good movie though.

I thought it was a good movie, but as I think about it more and more... the plot was a little useless.... I just saw The Other Boleyn Girl today and that Lola girl from Atonement had a minor role in it.

Neither did I because the previews make it seem different from what the movie was about.

I just rented it a few days ago. Loved James McAvoy in it, and all the sets and costumes and scenery were so gorgeous.
It kind of annoyed me that
everyone smoked nonstop though. And the ending was really sad, and the way Briony justified herself as an old woman was just so wrong.
The one really creepy thing was the chocolate guy... The looks he gave that little girl were so believable

It was the 30s. People didn't yet know the dangers of smoking; it was completely realistic for everyone to be smoking that much.
Person above me: They didn't get married...they died. Did you watch the movie?

I got this movie yesterday, because it was on sale, haha... but I plan on watching it later. I hope it doesn't make me turn into a baby

Yeah, Briony wrote it into her novel. She says it's the only way she can give a happy ending to her sister and Robbie...she never had the courage to tell her sister to her face what she had done. Robbie died of something (can't remember) during war and Cecilia died during The Blitz.

My French teacher said the movie sucked. The plot drags long and slow to see/know the good stuff, she says.

Briony... possibly one of the most irritating characters I've ever seen, but that's coming from someone who doesn't watch movies all that much.
I was kind of dragged into watching the movie so I didn't enjoy it all that much, but the green dress was gorgeous.

Apart from James McAvoy, that green dress was the greatest thing in the whole movie.
