For those who have an existing web site, before you got your domain what did you do....did you buy any programs from a store, what tools did you use or did you pay another person to do it, were you happy with the end result?

Normally when I build a website, I like to code it from scratch. However, sometimes I need more features than what would be feasible for me to take on alone, so there are times when I use a content management system instead.
In the end, I'm always fairly happy with the way it turns out, yes. At the moment, I don't have a personal site, just several side projects. xD

Total cost of maintenance and creation: $0
I got Photoshop from a friend long ago. SmartFTP is free. I code through Notepad from scratch. My hosting is free, and I somehow got lucky and scored a free domain. Yay.

Isn't PHPBB a board type of thing? You have to get a domain for it, and then you have to download this script type and then you upload it onto your FTP server and then you set it up and what not. Or maybe I'm talking about something else, but the first thing that came to mind was PHPBB Board.
All I used to build my website was my freetime, photoshop, notepad, and FTPLive. All of those things were things I had already received, so I didn't have to pay for anything. My hosting for my site is already free, and I received a free domain. So I didn't pay for anything = $0.00.

They're not telling how they got it; you can get it for free....you can download it, get someone who has it to send you what you need; etc. If you want to know the price, just go to the site or store...the price, is no secret, the way they got it free is...

-cough-
steal it? Oh no, we would never do that!
But it does cost a lot and many people don't want to spend the money on it so they find other means to get it.

i remember the first layout i ever had, my friend cindy made it for me. she was soo awesome at these codes. i was so amazed, lol. she definitely influenced me to start coding.
the first layout i ever made for was xanga. and i definitely had her help. and i had website help too.
now i use like everything to help me learn more. i love both div layouts and basic layouts. but there's a lot of div layouts that i wish i could do, but can't. but now i know a lot of codes by heart, and some of my friends think its pretty awesome but some think its lame. lol.
photoshop was a new revolution for me, lmao.
i posted in this topic before. lol.
