Plain White T's cover of Umbrella was better than the original. I only thought of this after being in the David Sides thread!

Plain White T's are hella annoying, but pretty much every cover of this song is better than the original. It took me several months to actually hear Rihanna's version, but I'd rather liked the covered that I'd heard. Uh, I actually really didn't like Mandy Moore's, though.
And this. When I saw her play it live, I liked it a lot.

Yeah, Marie Digby is really good.
I really didn't like the Plain white t's cover of it. It didn't sound good at all.
I like Mandy Moores cover though. =] That one is good.

I like Mandy Moore's cover. I'll have to listen to the All-Time Low one later; they're a good band.

Marie Digby's version FTW. It's definitely my favorite version. Mandy Moore comes in second, and the others are kinda iffy to me.

I just listened to all the covers that were suggested above, and I have to say I do like Marie Digby's the best.

^ Lol, same here.
I guess Mary J. Blige passed on doing it, so it went to Rihanna.

"Umbrella" was not originally written for Rihanna. Christopher "Tricky" Stewart composed the song in 2007, with American pop singer Britney Spears in mind. Her label rejected the song, claiming to have a suitable amount of songs to work with for her future album Blackout, while also Spears having professional difficulties at the time.[7]
Concurrent to the event was the Grammy season of 2007. Stewart and Terius "The Dream" Nash decided to pass the song onto Mary J. Blige, and also L.A. Reid, the then-CEO of Island Def Jam, Rihanna's label.[7] Blige however, was unable to hear the song in full due to her obligations to the Grammys at the time.

I LOVE the All Time Low one. They play it at their concert and it's so good.
