Lately, I've been trying to get my post counts up so that I could apply for promotion, but when I browse through the forums, there seems to be so much arguing going on and its really giving me a dissastisfied feeling. i see administrators and moderators fighting it out on the forums. isnt Cb suppose to help you with questions? Im not trying to offend anyone but such forums like the Mike copyright forum and the GayCB forum, i reply in many forums with my honest opinions and I seriously dont think my opinions were rude in anyway, i have been trying to help people with their questions but all the admins and members seem to be in conflict, so I was just wondering if people could please stop fighting/cussing/ etc because I dont think createblog was meant for all this debate, I think it was built for web designers and graphic designers am I not correct? seriously it is just my two cents and im not attacking a certain individual but it seems that many staff members are really cocky instead of helpful, and this shows in the responses in the forums and pm's sure having a title is great but i dont think half the createblog team is working up to their names :[ im sorry if I offended anyone

but I just sort of wanted my opinion out there because this is feedback

thanks for taking the time to type this out :)
you've gotta realize that while cb was originally a design-based forum, there's also a huge part of the community that sticks around for the fun of it. what kind of community doesn't have fighting though? we try to keep it to a minimum, but it can't ever totally be conflict-free.
it's pretty hard to distinguish between petty fighting, playful banter, and heated discussion... sometimes. however, if you do have a problem with certain threads or anything, you're perfectly welcome to contact any staff member with your concerns.

the problem with your request is that some people are just "blunt", and although sometimes harsh, one still has the right to post his/her opinion. i agree though, sometimes the drama is not amusing, but for the most part, people are just expressing their individuality, so to speak ;o

"GayCB" was never a forum, just a thread. And, honestly, you shouldn't take a forum this seriously. Each forum is dedicated to a separate purpose. People help each other out in the Resource Center, and are kind about it. You're talking about two different things.
Community Center is a waste-time forum. I don't see where there's an administrator and member conflict that you're talking about. Members and members have conflict, it doesn't matter what the title is. You can't expect everyone to get along with each other and to keep everything PG on the internet, where freedom of speech is always pushed.

this type of feedback is useless if you can't provide some valid examples. who exactly on the staff has been acting this way? i'd really like to know because it seems like you are only talking about the resource center forums, and for the most part I think our design staff handles the support requests very respectfully and helpfully. I've looked through your posts and not in one thread did I find anything in the least bit rude or cocky coming from a staff member in any of the threads you've posted in.

I don't recall any heated arguments in mod performance since the whole Suzette incident. To say that there hasn't been any, though, would be incorrect.
Bluntness is often misinterpreted w/ malicious intent. For instance, I find some people to be quite dumb or annoying, and while it may or may not be right (depending on who's reading), I can be a huge smartass or dick. All of this can be done within the community guidelines, as well. cB isn't a "warzone". cB has it's moments, it's trolls, it's idiots, but the overwhelming majority seems to get along just fine, or at least not pursue arguments or bantering. I, however, am not one of those

I, honestly, haven't seen some of the issues that you have. I know that you haven't been here very long, but there have been times that it has been way worse. I think that overall people are getting along well. Sometimes people are blunt, sometimes people are unintentionally rude... and that's part of just reading something that someone typed and not knowing that person at all. My advice would be to take the Community Center with a grain of salt. If there's something (a post) that you're worried about you can click the report button and a staff member will get that report and look into it.

Oh, but thats the fun in e-drama. But yes, out of all seriousness, we do bicker a lot more than more forums do. (But then again...) This isn't
just a place where people ask questions and have them answers, its a community where people can interact and communicate with each other and just have a good time.

Its like school, ya know? You learn but you still have your fun.

I think the guy did post some examples - he was mainly referring to the incident with Mike as well as the issue with the CB Gays topic (which was referred to in another Feedback thread as a "forum" - that accounts for the confusion). If someone hadn't been around here for very long and that was all they saw just looking through Feedback, I can totally understand why they would see this as a "hostile" environment where people fight all the time and mods swear at each other.
The argument that he didn't bother to look around doesn't really amount to much - if you build a website with great content and a horrible design, do you honestly expect people to stay past the first page without closing the window? Nah, they'd probably leave because it doesn't look professional (just needed an example that would relate to CB's users, haha). But yeah, the same idea applies here in my opinion. If you look at a forum and, no matter how old the posts are, see people fighting with each other, that's the impression you get. We can't really blame him, can we? xD
I will say to the original poster that I hope you keep looking around the forums - you'll find some bickering, yes, but for the most part this is a peaceful place and the staff members do, for the most part, get along.

Oh, the leaving thing was really more about the "design" reference I made. I didn't say he was leaving, because I did read his first post pretty thoroughly. I was just saying that we can't blame him for the first impression he got of the forums. As he said, he wasn't trying to be rude, he thought he was being helpful in posting this and didn't realize that the topics he read don't necessarily reflect the overall atmosphere of the site. We just can't really jump on him for that. =\
I just don't like seeing "new-ish" people posting their opinions and getting attacked for it. He's not trying to be rude, so we shouldn't take it as that.

In all seriousness, sometimes things do get tense around here, but it really has improved A LOT over the past few months. Sometimes you just need a thick skin and be able to not take things personally. Sometimes people are just plain bitchy. It happens to everyone.
I think the best way to go about it, if you have concerns is to point them out right then and there. Otherwise it's difficult to get retroactive context, if that makes any sense.

I definitely don't think that it's a warzone on here, I just think that people have strong opinions. What I have noticed on here, is that a lot of a lot of people on here cannot take honesty, but then again, that comes with the majority of the users on here being kids. The bickering that is seen from time to time, is only human nature, because unfortunately, we can't live in a big fairy land. I have bickered with people before, but at the end of the day, I am on this site more than my other forums, because at least here they keep it interesting.
