Language is necessary for the communication of thought...
Of course, within your body, even if you're just thinking to yourself, there's technically a whole language system going on, seeing how language isn't exclusive to words or motions. Some science ish.

Absolutely it is. Of course I have no clue what you are talking about, but if I have the right idea, then yest it does.

You can think in imagery. Of course, language expands thought but I think that you could do without it.

Is this like body language and grammar?

Well, if we're talkin' thinking to oneself, involving only one solitary person, then grammar and body language might not have as much to do with it.

True, communication in oneself is good. I think that when communicating with others, body language can really say alot.

Ok, let me restate the question.
Is language necessary when you are thinking to yourself?

While language a necessity for thought, you don"t need a language to think. Think of the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words," and apply that to your opinion on this.

That is the perfect example right there. People communicate all the time without using any sort of language whatsoever.

There's a sort of language going on within the body, but I don't think that's the sort of language you're referring to anyway...
Having language just helps, as far as I can tell. A lot better if a person can apply and convey his ideas rather than keep them in his own head not really doing anything with them. Self-satisfaction then, I guess.
