So I had my umpteenth blood test today to check for anaemia and fatigue syndome...ah what a sickly moderator I am.

Anyway, I've heard that there are two types of people. Those that can watch the needle puncture their skin; and those that can't.

Personally, I love watching the needle go in and the blood spurt; but my boyfriend near passes out if he tries it. What are you guys like?
Cataclysm
I usually don't watch. I can stand seeing it on TV or done to someone else ... but for me I turn away tongue.gif
superficial
Yeah, I (usually) always watch when the needle goes in, but sometimes, I get too scared and look the other way and shut my eyes.
icecreamisyummy
if im donating blood i usually do but if its just regular bloodwork i dont watch when they poke me but i watch when the little tube is filling up with blood. idk lol weird i know
Hedonism
I don't watch it go in, but I stare at it afterwards.

lol; i freak out when the needle goes in and then i just watch my blood squirt into the bottles. it's amazing but ends after a few seconds since my blood goes in super fast; unlike my brother's. it took him; TWENTY MINUTES to get four drops of blood into the bottle. his hand turned like purple blue after twenty minutes ; it was scary and then this whole line of people formed behind him waiting for their blood test. xD
jaeminnie
I don't like needles at all, so I usually try not to watch the needle go in when I get blood tests or have shots administered on me. Sometimes I still look anyway; it's a kind of sickened fascination that pulls my eyes to the needle. xD
Pooonani
I can't watch it at all.
I don't like it when long, sharp objects puncture my skin into my veins.
It scares me sad.gif

that is seriously weird. because today I had the exact same test done for the same thing. cool

It depends on whose in the room. If my mom was in the room, me being humerous, say hey mom look! I watch it and she ewws etc.

Today though no one special was in the room, and I didnt watch. It didnt matter if I did or not, just random. But after its in I watch it.

When I was anemic I would have to go in every three months for blood tests. When I was a kid I would scream when I would get my shots, and the first few times I had to get a blood test I would get really nervous, but afterwards I got used to it and it didn't bother me at all. A few times I had a hot (guy) nurse, that always makes it easier wink.gif
Jeng
Well, sometimes I watch, but now I don't because I got dizzy from the nurses making mistakes on my veins, because I have tiny veins, so I nearly fainted and felt sick afterwards.
BrokenDream
I don't mind watching other people get shots and such, but for me, MOST of the time I look away.
breakingdawn
I got tested for anemia and fatigue syndrome too!

...I ended up having mono though. stubborn.gif

I always watch the needle go in. I hate it and it (kinda) hurts, but I think not watching makes it worse.
technics
A couple months ago, I had 5 shots. I can actually stand to watch. It doesn't bother me.
jaeman
I always watch the needle go in, it's cool seeing the needle right under your skin.
Mikael
I watch, and afterwards. I ask if can get another lolly pop. And they try to make me flinch by saying they have to draw blood again, and I respond with "go head, I'm a crack headed doner. look at all these needle marks on my arm!"
Melie
hell yeah i watch...i wanna make sure that they're actually getting the vein. i dont want them to collapse one because that hurts like hell!!
RealTalk
I'm going to admit I'm such a pansy when it comes to needles. The last time I had to get a blood test done I looked away and held my ma's hand.
Flaunted
Had a blood test this weekend for some lifeinsurance thing.
I don't watch it, any part of it, whatsoever.
I'm a huge chicken, I don't like it. arg.
Wish i could stand it lol.

Yay! We can be blood buddies. laugh.gif
DoubleJ
I think blood tests are the worst, and unfortunately you must get them done for what I want to do. I am dreading having to take one, because they draw blood for like 3 or 4 minutes, but it seems like they are doing it for hours.
miyashu
I can't watch; I turn away and think of happy, fluffy things like The Lion King... xD
DoubleJ
The Lion King haha, I usually think about hot girls!
stephinika
Ugh, goodness no I can't. I look away and keep looking away until its over.
I hate needles. pinch.gif
paperplane
I'm okay if I see, but I look away anyway. The sight of blood doesn't bother me, but if I look than I'm likely to think it hurts more than it does.
Laughsalot
i can't look. i really realyl hate needles. i used to think it was normal when i was a kid. i used to get shots all the time cuz i traveled ALOT out of the country with my mom. but then as i got older i have to spend time in school and once in awhile i get shots when i go to some thirdworld country or something and i hate it. i just keep thinking that there's a bubble of air in the tube and then when they give me the shot the air bubble will get in my blood stream and kill me. i know sounds crazy. just thinking about shots gives me phantom pains or something.
tailoredtrouble
hahha i love it! (is that weird?) it's cool because they put the little tube thingy on the end, and it spurts into it.. tehhe cool XD and i got tested for a buncha that stuff. but turns out my blood was fine and i just have weird chemical imbalance in my brain. mono test hurts a gajillion times worse than normal test, though.. yowch. in the finger.
Detective
I'm the type of person that needs someone to hold my hand. I couldn't be able to see all that going on, Just too painful.
falsetigerlimbs
I love watching the needle go in and the blood rushing into the tube. :D
(not even being sarcastic, lol)
foxx
I have someone hold my hand, and i say i don't want to watch it going in, but i usually do anyways, not usually on purpose, my eyes wander T__T
michelina~kudelka
Haha I don't watch, I had my first blood test in recent memory about a week ago, annnd I'm a fainter, it's not like blood freaks me out or anything, I want to be a vet, I watch blood get taken from animals and surgery all the time at work, I'm just a fainter, for other things too... like fumes, mentrual cramps... I am a freakin mess haha

LOL.

i also watch it as it goes in and comes out. laugh.gif
ForgiveTheSinner
I've been drawing blood every month for 3 years and I still can't watch the needle or my own blood.

Makes me sick but I'm fine with other people getting blood drawn.
JokeInsideJoke
I cant i would throw up. it sucked when i was in the hospital for 5 days they gave me 16 of those IV bags...... but whatever they hurt
freeflow
I can't watch, I tried too but I turned my head right before it went in. pinch.gif
LoveToMySilas
I usually watch to make sure they don't miss the vein, and then I look away and shut my eyeballs!
DoubleJ
Of course I do, I want to make sure that they are doing it right.
TheWinterBones
I've had to have my blood taken regularly for the past few years.

I've never gotten used to having blood tests until recently, and I still can't watch. I don't react too kindly to having the blood sucked out of me. I scream like you would never believe. Nurses have to pin me down.

I'm a little calmer these days.
jackizzle
I watch. cool.gif
avocado
i love them. shifty.gif
fosheezy
i watch.
it looks cool when the blood rushes into the thing.
HAHAHAHA. that sounds WEIRD.
ahem, but yeah.
PrIncEoFSeXaPpeAL
me watch n lick da blood.. MmMM yumm b$tch...
illmortal
I don't mind having needles poke my vein. I noticed that if you "try" to feel the needle, it's gonna hurt. But if you just ignore the existence of pain, you can actually watch it (almost like slow motion) without fearing pain. I like to watch because it amazes me how fast blood pours right into the vile lol
Reconditee
I also look away >< I recently had a blood test done for my psychiatrist, and my mom had to hold my head the other direction so I didn't see the needle penetrate the skin, though I did feel it everytime a tube was taken out and another one was put in in its place.

Afterwards, I stared at the blood in the tubes while I got unbelievably light headed and dizzy... and eventually I fainted, lol.

i actually do that too!

i dont think about the pain or the needle. so perhaps its all in the mind, so dont let it overcome you!
Teesa
a long time ago, i used to think that i could watch with no problem. boy, was i wrong :/ my heart starts racing really badly and my palms get all sweaty and i just feel really nauseous.
eeonz
I'm not too good with blood tests. Had one done on thursday and saw it go in, but wish i hadn't to be honest.
laurellesions
i don't try to watch the needle go in. sometimes i do, sometimes i don't. i don't really think about it. but i always watch after they take it out.

i've had so many blood tests that i'm incredibly used to it.

=P
Glamourouz
Nope; I hate needles; I always look away
