I voted girls but I meant men. Stupid clicky mouse button.
I've always had guy friends and guy best friends. They're down to earth, easy to get along with and they'll buy you a pint without ever giving a thought to who's round it really is.

I can honestly say, that for me it is equal. I can do exactly the same things with my guy friends that I can with my girl friends. I have very few guy friends, as I like to keep my friends to the absolute minimum. We are very close knit, and the brotherhood feeling that we share is unique. With my girls, it is also very good. Whenever I need to discuss a problem that I am having with a chick, they always know what advice to give and what not. Each of my friends is there for a reason.

I have to say the same, as both sexes are good in different ways, and bad in different ways. Girls: cause too much damn drama, but when it comes to the flip side, they can relate to how you feel about boys and etc. Guys: they can be shit heads and piss you off, but as well on the flip side, they don't cause nearly as much drama as females do. I prefer guys over girls. You can still gossip about guys with other guys + girls.

I've always had guy and girl friends. But my best friend is a girl. She's been my best friend since 6th grade... and I guess 6th grade is still that stage that guys and girls aren't buddy buddy.

Depends on the type of person you are.
Girls who have only male friends, to me, are either tomboys or whores. In my experience, there's a reason why a girl has no girl friends: they're bitches and girls can't stand them.
Guys who have only female friends, well, that speaks for itself.

I prefer hanging out with girls, however there's certain things you can't do with girls, so I have my guy friends for that.

I've always been considered a tomboy, since the majority of my close friends have always been male. I have nothing against having female friends at all (and I'm definitely not a whore lol). I just like comic books, online gaming, sci fi/fantasy films and such and most of the girls I've encountered aren't into those things as much as I am. So really, it becomes a common interest and the types of conversations you can have scenario.
I also really don't like to go shopping and I'm terrible at [typically] girl related things like makeup and fashion and such. I'm a nerd and I know more nerdy guys than I do nerdy females.
By the way, I know just as many gay bitches as I do otherwise straight bitches. A bitch is a bitch is a bitch.

For me, it's pretty much even.. With girls, they can relate to your guy problems and such, but they're just so.. dramatic. "My mom called me fat. I'm not eating for a week." Oh god, please. With guys, they cause less drama and don't complain nearly as much as girls. But then again, I find them harder to approach and they don't understand some things as much as girls. Lesbians and gays are a totally different thing, but how is that a different category when they're still guys or girls?

I have to admit, though. My gay friends are pretty awesome.

That made me laugh. I'm going to have to use that in the future. I'm not a girly-girl, either. I don't spend infinite amounts of time in front of the mirror, and I don't watch television or keep up with pop culture. I'm pretty androgynous in my character.
The defining line is when a person has absolutely no friends or does not get along well at all with the same sex. The only way it makes any sense to me is if the girl is an absolute bitch, but does a 360 transformation around guys to be an attention whore, or if the guy is really into cosmetics and love that drama thing.

Well what exactly is that supposed to mean? I know some girls who don't really run with a big crew of girls, just because they want to avoid the drama. That is actually fairly common up here for some reason. As for the guys comment, please elaborate lol.

I'm going to assume Whitney is implying guys with lots of female friends are gay right?
Well I hang out with more females than I do with males? Why? Because I rather hang out with girls since they are girls! C'mon, I love girls, and being the whore that I am, I don't want to be around many guys because that's too much of a cockfest and that's totally homo.

No, I'm talking about the guys who exclusively hang out with females and all of their best friends are females.
All girls will tell you that they love their guy friends to get away from the drama. It's the most popular excuse, why? Because they can't admit that they just love the cock. I swear to you that those girls start the most shit with guys when they don't get their drama fill from other girls.

Yo you're absolutely right. This john I know stays starting trouble with guys. Sometimes I just look at her like wtf! All my besties definitely aren't females. As a matter of fact, although I do have a lot of female friends, only 3 of them are besties. I keep them around to check me when I need it.

It's a delicate thing. I have no problems with women having male friends, exclusively, if they would just admit that they're obsessed with the attention and love the dick, and not to try justify it by some other means.
And who doesn't love drama? Life is run by drama.

I really and truly don't like drama as hard as that may seem. I think it all is unnecessary and ultimate leads to something worse. I always tell girls to keep that drama shit away from me because I am grown.

Androgynous is a pretty damn good way of putting it. I'm not a girly girl but I'm not beer belly bobby joe either.
I'm usually considered "one of the guys", to a degree, which believe me has the entirely opposite effect on certain types of attention getting. Sometimes I just want to say, "I'm a girl dammit!" but I love all my buddies.
Interestingly though, my longest and one of my dearest friends is a female. She's the only one I still talk to that I met from high school.

I'll second that. I happen to have more girl friends than guy friends, but both are needed. Both are equally likely to stab you in the back, atleast from my expericance. I'm not really a people person, and I just got burnt by a friendship, so my views are admitedly somewhat cynical.

Oh my god, are you
really that closed-minded? I didn't know people that judgmental even existed. Do you know how offensive that sounds? I know plenty of guys that have mostly girl friends and they're perfectly normal, but more importantly, I know girls who have
only guy friends, and they're not tomboys. OR whores. Some girls choose not to hang with girls because maybe they're harder to make friends with or maybe, they just like guys better. It's one thing to say that girls or guys make a better friend, but entirely different to make a blunt stereotype that has no truth to it.

Are you really that naive? It is in a person's nature to get along with the same sex. There is a reason, more than "I really like guys better," that a girl may have only guy friends. I hang with the straight crowd, even if you may find yourself in the gay crowd, so maybe that explains it.

Clearly there will be no reasoning with you. You sound incredibly set in your conservative ways. I'm glad you "hang with the straight crowd" because you probably wouldn't be too well liked in the "gay crowd," as we tend to believe in crazy things like "To each their own," and "No one is a stereotype." I find it's in a person's nature to get along with people who have a similar communication style, sometimes that's a by gender thing, but not usually. It certainly has nothing to do with their orientation, so I'd suggest backing off.

Depends on how you define a 'better friend'. As far as listening to you, giving you the right advice and doing little considerate things to cheer you up, I'd say that girls are better at doing that. As far as having a good, goofy time, I'd say guys are better. Hanging out with girls/lesbians/gays always causes drama cause they're all just too emotionally charged and take everything so personally. Guys are more laid-back and are fun-ner to hang out with. But if i wanted to have a deep, emotional convo with a person, I'd pick one of my girls cause men aren't into the deep talks as much.

^LOL OMG JEFFREE LAWLZ.
I can have friends of both genders, but primarily I'll befriend a girl; I'm quite shy with strangers, and I've found girls are more likely to begin a conversation with someone.
Guys conversations don't really...have that much of a range, so I become bored with them easily. But I have to admit, I can be alot more crude with a guy than a female.
