I'm guessing that everybody has their own limit to what they would spend for a certain something.

Usually my goal is to spend less than $20 per item if I'm sale/clearance surfing, but then when I go to the mall and walk into French Connection, I can spend $80+ on a shirt or dress without even blinking an eye but when I look at my bank account later, I always feel slightly guilty.

What are your limits?

I'm currently debating whether I should get this pair of sunglasses from Armani Exchange. I tried them on at the store and really liked them but held off... they're $70 and my limit's usually $30 for accessories like sunglasses.

Blah, decisions.

If I have the cash and my finances are in order; I'll spend as much as I can afford.
Relentless
I don't have a limit really, I just try not to spend my money when it's not necessary.

I don't like spending money on one thing that cost $80-100+. I prefer using that money and buy many things than one. UNLESS it's something that I definitely need.

But to be precise on my limit which I'm not sure, I try not to spend like no more than $50-60 a week. I currently don't have a job so I'm still searching.
jaeman
It depends on the quality and how much I need it. thumbsup.gif
But generally, about $20. _smile.gif
MissFits
I would NEVER EVER spend more than 20 on a shirt or pants.

I bought 40 dollar shoes once in my life because I was forced into it.

I guess I am conservative.
ersatz
Wouldn't spend more than $50 on a shirt ever, wouldn't spend more than $70 on jeans.
stephinika
Eh. I'm pretty bad. I don't really have a real limit...it depends on the quality/brand/how much money I have and can afford...
yrrnotelekktric
i tend to be frugal.
im not CHEAP, i just dont feel like i should spend money on things i dont need.
if i have 100 dollars, for example, im not just gonna go out and spend it on, say, necklaces from kohls.

i usually wait for my money to accumulate to buy something i really need.

like a damn car. hammer.gif

Agreed!
breakingdawn
If I'm buying something with my own money, I stick to sales and stuff so probably not over like $50

If my parents are paying, they don't really have a limit as long as they like what I pick out whistling.gif
NewUsername
Well... I'm not really big on brand names. The most I'd pay for a shirt is MAYBE twenty. For pants, thirty.
Shoes are the only thing I don't mind spending money on. :3

DoubleJ
I usually spend no matter if I have the money or not. I know that is bad, but hey I like to look nice.
MissHygienic
I'm an extravagant shopper. I will find a reason for every expensive item of clothing I wear, to include the reason, "Because."
DoubleJ
^. I am the same way. I know for a fact, that I don't have any clothes in my closet that are under 100 dollars.
freeridefight
Im a guy and have that shopping streak. I dont really care if something costs alot, as long as it makes me happy. dont get me wrong, im not a shop-o-holic, but when I have the money it feels good to go get a pair of jeans or something

Finally, someone who agrees. It pays off to look good. I don't like "hand-me-downs," and thrift stores I've visited supply clothing that women working for development offices would wear.

It definitely does, but then I have the people who get mad because I spend so much money on my clothes. I say to them, I have a reputation to maintain ya dig. Money to me is not an object when it comes to looking good.
EddieV
I believe if you can afford it buy it, but don't spend it all.

It's how we roll; f**k them haters.
DoubleJ
I tell them to fall back. I used to be the other way though in never paying money for clothes, and I used to look like a scrub until I saw the light. When I started working, I met this guy Jason, who showed me the way and now I owe it to him for what I know today. I think that the way you dress, tells alot about your character.
tokyo-rose
Not very high, but most of the clothes I like aren't terribly expensive anyway.
DoubleJ
I have very expensive taste, so I tend to just not care and spend away.
iDecay
Eh, when it comes to buying anything - clothes, electronics, cosmetics, anything, I don't really care have a limit. As long as my parents let me get it, I get it. But sometimes I do check, I guess. It depends on the quality and how much I like it. There's no way I'm going to spend $70 on a thin t-shirt, but I'd be willing to spend $100 on a nice jacket. Or rather, my parents are willing to let me use their money to buy it. Yeah.. :3
jaeman
If I really want it, I'm down for it.
moorepocket
$30 or less for a shirt.
$50 or less for a jeans.
synthase
It depends on the quality. Such as, AE shirts are shit quality. So even though they're sometimes $10, I pass. But I'm willing to spend more than $30 on a shirt and possibly less than $60 for pants/jeans.
transcendentalism
if i like it enough and i can afford it without going under, i'm buying it. that doesn't happen very often though, as i'm saving up for college and a new instrument (which would be at LEAST worth $20k, and then i'd just have to replace it right after college... so i'm looking at cellos in the $40-50k).

I usually don't get expensive clothes. I guess the highest I will go is 100. shrug.gif
RealTalk
I'm really into hoodies so I think I'd pay 100 dollars for a hoodie at the most. I won't pay more than 20 bucks for a tshirt though. It's just not worth it.

Do not get me wrong I am not a 'hater', as I own clothes that are worth a considerable amount as well... but finances are finances and it is not very smart to blindly spend just in the name of 'looking good'. ;)

Very smart words from Jenny. I myself am very wealthy, and own many designer jeans, and shoes. I have my limit when I go shopping though. it depends how much my paycheck is that I get for that week. I would say if I go to the mall, my limit would be $300 for a day.

When I'm buying stuff, I always see if it is versatile with everything so I will get my money's worth. So it really all depends. With sunglasses, you can keep them forever, if you don't step on them or lose them. So you should go buy them. :]
Luna5
Usually $200 total and I don't shop that often because I hate going to the mall.
superficial
^ Then how the hell do you get your clothes? And who can hate the mall? @___@!

Anyways, if I think that it's worth the money, I'll buy it.
dannyordinary
depends what it is, and when. I have no limit on sunglasses, I would go to G's for them.

5 dolla fo shirt
10 dolla fo pant

LoveToMySilas
My limit is 50 bucks for an item...yeah...I'm cheap.

Meh things are kind of expensive in some stores now. It all depends. In some stores 80 is a lot, but in others that only buys you a shirt.
Amaranthus
Hmmmmm....
On a single item...$129 or something like that.

What an odd number. Why not just 125 or 150? Why 129? Collaborate?
By the way, you are a fucking cheapass.

^Ha. I know.
When I was po', I was used to shopping at Wal-Mart.

I mean, I am not going to sit here and say that I go and don't have a limit, but when I go to the mall, which is a rarity, I tend to spend upwards of a thousand.

No offense, but if I had to shop at Wal-Mart for clothes, I would feel awkward.
