So I need some new bands to get into for 08.
I am very open as I listen to all kindns of music from Brooks & Dunn to The Diplomats.
My favorite band is The Strokes, and I like bands like The Hives, The Vines, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Juliana Theory, Paramore, Coheed, ETC.!
I am just trying to open my ears and eyes to new things.
Any helpful suggestions would really help!

Have you ever listened to At the Drive-in? They're "experimental," but I find their one song, Cosmonaut, to not be half-bad. I don't bother trying to find new music anymore, but that's one band that most people wouldn't try.

The Shins are AWESOME! None of the songs on any of their albums need skipping.

Somewhat like Morningwood: Uffie, Coco, Css, Freezepop, The Bird & The Bee.
Then there is also stuff like Ingrid Michaelson, Sia, Terra Naomi, Imogen Heap, Frou Frou, Cat Power, and Rilo Kiley.

I love Within Temptation, but judging by the other bands you listed, I'm not too sure if you'd like them. But her voice is beautiful.

SORRY TUNG THAT WAS ACTUALLY A BIG DEAL FOR ME. and yes after the fifth month of this year i will have oodles and oodles of time. whoopeeeee we can go SFing.
^ WTF when did acceptance break up?
Tung
Jan 16 2008, 11:11 PM
I'm a big fan of Acceptance, i never knew they broke up. It explains why I haven't had any new songs from them in like 2 years.
Betty, we should totally hang out this summer. Warp tour if you like. I go every year in Sacramento and San Francisco. There'll be tons of bands you'll like, and you can like add 15 bands to your list you've seen and in only one day!

You'd probably really enjoy Mayday Parade ane Evans Blue. They're alternative rock.
Stephen Speaks plays mostly acoustic. They're wonderful if you're feeling mellow.

If you're open to go more around the unsigned band route.
I happen to really like these guys, Countless Hours.
They're out of the Ventura area.
http://www.myspace.com/countlesshoursmusicjust a thought.
if you like 'em, tell your friends!
WAY agree with the person who suggested We The Kings. I heart them.
but ALSO. here's a pretty random list that i found (actually i think it's the bands that i was interested in seeing at the August 17 date of Warped Tour...always a good place to find some up and comers as well) whether you've heard of them or not. (I'm sure you've heard of at least a few, if not a lot of them)
