If you think these 5 states are great, please enlighten me with some facts to back up your case, as I have already with California, and Steven with Texas, and others with New York.
All five have large, accessible, cultural, intellectual cities that generate large amounts of money for the entire state, all have sufficient amounts of greenery, all have seasonal changes that vary the weather and keep it enjoyable for all sorts of people for some of the year (yay accessibility), and all have large amounts of lakes and rivers for beach communities and water transport of goods. Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania have some of the top schools in the country (University of Chicago, Northwestern, University of Michigan, UPenn). The only natural disasters that regularly occur in these areas are tornadoes and they are still pretty rare. These states have both rural, quiet communities and towns with greater than 100,000 people. Though in most of these states the northern parts are covered in snow in the winter, one can still enjoy all that these states have to offer in the southern parts of them. Accessibility, money, schooling, variety, ethnic diversity, etc. All the good things a state has to offer.

Kansas for sure.
Hot in the summer, cold in the winter.
The only thing I'd get rid of is the wind; it drives me crazy.

Other than that, Texas is fine by me. I wasn't arguing against any other states, just making sure some of the ones I personally like the best aren't being disregarded.

I would say, NEW YORK FTW. But theres a hella lot of pollution here...and you can get shot up on the block...and...okay, I lost my point. I guess the best state would be North Carolina.

Its really nice and peaceful there.

Yup. Texas is a big state. I woke up this morning and it was in the 30s O.o A few days ago it was in the 20's. Keeping in mind we're in one of the warmer spots of Texas, too. It was colder further in the state.

The no cursing thing really freaked my out. I came across a sign at Virginia beach, stood back, pulled out my camera and yelled "f**k that!" as I took a picture of the sign. I felt satisfied.

I was in Dallas at my sister's cheerleading competition 4 years ago, and there was enough snow on the ground for parts of the highway to get shut down.

Haha, just 'cause all the old people go to FL doesn't mean that's all that is there... old ladies with their boobies falling out of their bathing suits.
My personal opinion would be to live somewhere that there's not that much snow. I hate it. We get 8 inches in one night and still have school the next day, if that were to happen anywhere else they would flip. I must admit, it was in the 30s today, so no complaining about today.

Obviously if you think that California is always hot and doesn't have any snow, you haven't been there. Some parts of California does have snow, just not in most areas. And it's not always hot. It's cold as shit right now in SF. And at night it's pretty damn cold too. It's not even always hot. The winters are cold like hell as well. So you don't know what you're talking about. California > Michigan.
