ok so I have been swimming 5-7 hours a day for about a week. Lately my skin has been so itchy; in fact, I think I'm going to die.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of this chlorine-itch
breakingdawn
um, make sure you take a shower like right after you get out of the pool and use lots of soap. And uh, moisturize.

Ehhg, I know how you feel. My skin gets so itchy with swim team.

Use a loofa (sp?) when you shower, and soap it up. Make sure it's glycerine soap (Bath & Body sells it cheap). That should do it.

Bet you're tired; I know EXACTLY how you feel.

Use moisturizing body wash.

Mind if I ask why you've been swimming 5-7 hours?

Hahaha, no, but if you read his profile...

Anyway, yeah, it's pretty cool. Swimming is fun.

The Chlorine is probably irritating you. sad.gif As someone mentioned before, just make sure you take a good shower after the swim. (Use Dove soap, it'll keep your moisturized.)

I don't understand how you can spend quite so much time in the pool even if you are on the swim team...

But yeah. A lot of moisturizer. Moisturizing soap, lotion, and I'd recommend shampoo too, as you don't want your hair to be gross.
karmakiller
Yeah, no way would I be in the pool for that long. Holy crap. Make sure you moisturize. I'd probably prune up and waste away to a raison if I was in the pool for that long.

wtf? 5-7 hours? okay I swim for school and for team, and I know that NEITHER teams would want anyone swimming > 4 hours a day. 2 hours morning practice, 2 hours after school is ENOUGH. If you're doing a good enough workout, there's no need to swim that many hours.

and LOL maybe you have chlorine-induced eczema! kidding, just moisturize. and honestly, you don't need to spend more than 4 hours in the pool if you're a serious swimmer. LOL 7 HOURS?

Reason why they use chlorine is for purifying, if I'm not mistaken. Which isn't bad, but the problem... how much of it are they using.
