So yea me and my best friend are walking in the mall to check out the new sidekicks and blackberry curve and we come across this BUBBLE TEA STAND??? like we have a population of .07 asians where i live. i mean there is an asian central like 10 miles away but still its shocking...

So we buy some delicious bubble tea, but the stand was horrendous, the sign was crappy and it was like in a weird position. it was like infront of a radio shack but not in the center of the court, more like to the left.

where is bubble tea from anyways? is it chinese or korean?
Just_Dream
I think it's Chinese? Not sure, but the boba places I go to are run by Chinese people.. Well, the good ones are, anyways. But I think they might originate from somewhere else. I have yet to encounter a Korean boba place, lol.

Dude, there's this lollicup (a CRAPPY bubble tea place) in my niece's city, and the population is probably <1% Asian in her town. I don't know why it's open, but it is! Too bad they serve crappy boba and their drinks are powdery. Well, they actually taste powdery. My niece was appalled, but all her non-Asian friends thought the boba was amazing. lmao.

taiwanese bitches.

I think it is actually a good drink, but I have to agree with an earlier post that the places are sometimes seedy. There are two babo tea places in my city and both of them look like they may clean in there once a month.
jeanna
i had it once and it was so weird. i would get it again though

There's tons of bubble tea places here...mind you, the asian population is huge here, so yeh.

Bubble tea = yummy. throb.gif

Yup, bubble tea is Taiwanese.

New York City has a ton of Asians, so bubble tea shops are really common here.
pandamonium
well congrats for the taiwanese people! they did a good job.

lol the bubble tea places in ny chinatown sucks.. like a lot of food places when you see it everywhere. everything i got was all powdery.

OH MY GOD. Yesterday some guy was going into my dorm in front of me carrying two bubble teas, so I got excited and asked him if they were selling them by the student center again. He said yeah, humored me, and then asked if I knew what it was. I was inclined to be a little bit insulted, because just because most of the other white kids here (i.e. most everyone) are culturally unaware, it doesn't mean I am. So then I went to go get some and the girls from the Asian sorority or whatever started explaining to me what it was, then were astonished when I'd had it before. It was pretty annoying. Sure, we're in Georgia. Yeah, UGA's Asian population makes up only 7% (and that seems generous), and I bet Athens' is even lower. That's why they sell bubble tea occasionally, because they don't anywhere else in the area. But I definitely know what it is, because a) a lot of my high school friends were Asian (actually, I realized after while they were making my tea that I knew one of the girls selling it), b) I use the internet, and c) I'm not completely ignorant.

So yeah. I guess I'm just not Asian enough sad.gif

Bubble tea is everywhere near where I live. Its Asiatown! The only thing that drives their business away are their signs. sad.gif

Bubble tea is hella good. They only have a Lolocup (it used to be lollicup) and Quickly's. We have a Chinatown, so imagine how many bubble tea places there are.
iDecay
There's no bubble tea places in the Chinatown here.. mellow.gif However, my town, which is basically Chinatown #2 here is full of 'em. I love Tapioca Express the most. I used to go to Quickly's a lot because that's where we'd hang out after school in middle school.

Lollicup SUCKSSSSSSS ass. whistling.gif

Teastation > Tapioca Express > Lolicup

If boba places were everywhere, like Starbucks, that would be amazing...

She said she could taste bits of something and it tasted powdery. She, being my niece, that is. But keep in mind that the one in her area has like, hardly any Asians, so yea the drinks sucked, she said. I haven't had the one in my city, but I heard it wasn't that good either.

Oooh. XD.gif There are hella asians over here. I'm pretty sure the person running the store is Asian. No powder around this area. XD.gif I only like their Peach Slush and Milk Tea.
