I 'farted' on Diana because she bumped the topic. So, I didn't deviate.
Although, I did close it at first.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. People are actually commenting about how old the topic is. I don't see any out of hand spam in there.

It doesn't pertain to the topic, does it? NOPE!
Here, let me have a chance at quoting some Community Guidelines:

Anything not pertaining or contributing to the topic (i.e., "South Park is the bestest show ever, no?" in a topic about, say, Myspace codes)

You don't always have to be on topic. I'm talking about ugly spam. One word spam. NOTHING TO DO WITH spam.
Again, the problem was resolved so I don't see why it should remain open. BUT if Trish wants it open, fine. As long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Wouldn't this be the same as some Design Staff closing a topic after someone posts the answer, but the starter not coming by to say it can be closed?

Oh I get it. I bump a topic and it gets closed because I'm not a superior anymore. How long did it take you to come up with an excuse to close it?

Doesn't that do it for you?

Oct 25 2007, 05:45 PM
My goodness. LOL
The old topic that Diana bumped *was* closed. I mentioned in this topic that it really didn't need to be. I had said that because it seemed like people were reminiscing and didn't see why it needed to be closed.
This whole bumped topic thing isn't a big deal. If someone has something relevant or fun to chat about and bumps a topic, it's not the end of the world, especially if people are participating and what not.
I would have left the locked out one open but might have been inclined to close the xanga one, simply because it was a xanga related question that had obviously been answered, as opposed to the other two which were pretty open ended.
I know it's not important, just giving my two cents.

I'll agree with Rebecca, I suppose it really isn't that big of a deal, but I know there is something somewhere about bumping topics, because when I first joined I swear the god I use to always have it shoved in my face about not bumping topics that are way old. But I honestly don't care, there is a thing about creating new topics though if it is a duplicate then its fine if its 6 months old.. *shrug

Oh also Spencer, just to let you know. The un-moved really old topics were probably in the appropriate place but when Ju-sun put the back up on here after Suzzette removed the forums a lot of things were put in the wrong places...and well were still moving them all.

i dont care. i was kind of irritated when it was closed but it's not like it matters anymore.
I will say this. If you are going to enforce the rules at that kind of level or extent, Sandra, please enforce it that way consistently. You posted in a thread from 2004 that someone bumped for no reason at all and didnt even think about closing it? With your logic, Tal_dara already went on his break, in fact he's been on a 2 year break, and so the "issue" was over with.
Please give us a reason as to why it was not closed right away.

as a general rule of thumb here, topics that have a point (i'm not saying mine did) shouldnt be closed just because people are spamming in it. you should tell them to quit spamming and leave the thread open.
i don't know why staff started to just close topics like these...
also, just because an issue is "resolved" in the lounge doesnt mean it has to be closed either. people are still allowed to make comments as long as they are relevant to the thread. the only topics that need to be closed when they are resolved are help threads.

Don't take it so literally. The Lounge shouldn't be filled with topics that are COMPLETE spam. Topics don't necessarily have to ask a question or need to have a point but as long as there's something to talk about. I think you're just nit picking.
Oh, someone pointed out that the rules (or moderation?) should be consistent or something. You guys (Steven and Spencer) know that we're working on revising the rules.
