I dunno if you guys have run into this new fresh style of design that's been appearing in websites lately (badges, glossy icons, gradients, large text, rounded corners, etc) but if not, here are some really informative articles on this latest trend:
The Visual Design of Web 2.0Current Style in Web DesignWeb 2.0 Design Style GuideSome examples of websites that have had recent web 2.0 makeovers... CNN, Getty Images, Yahoo, Myspace, Facebook, USA Today, etc.
What do you guys think about this?
Have you been applying any of these guidelines to your design?

2.0 is huge right now, so i've definitely been incorporating a lot of influences from it into my designs

i liked 2.0 back during 0.0 ;x har har. but yah, i think it's definitely more appealing and easier ont he eyes. way more efficient and user-friendly, too. and it's just kickass. of course i'm biased 'cause i'm a fan of the simplicity.

I like the simplicity of web 2.0, however, some people simplify their sites a little too much to the point that it just looks too bland. Also, I'm not too fond of glossy icons and gradients.

Rounded, rounded, rounded. I've always like the simple look, but I think that if it's something I see EVERYWHERE it might get old.

It's the style I've always been aiming for. But yeah, I do tend to mimic the techniques of really good sites that follow Web 2.0.

I think some people have taken the whole simplicity thing too far, but it is a huge breath of fresh air to see crisp, clean sites with text that is large enough to read.

it looks nice, but i guess its something that works best for business/company websites cuz its pretty much what you expect and i guess the whole glossy looks takes away the 'this *hit is boring to look at' feeling.
