Rachael goes away for extended periods and does very little while shes not absent, then gets mad at others when they critique her. She then makes up excuses or accuses others of stupid things like hating her etc. Rachael =/= good staff member.

Historically there's been several times when a mod hasn't responded or has responded but basically biting back, so-to-speak.
I think it depends on whether or not the person giving feedback wants a response. Part of the debate of this thread was whether or not people felt comfortable giving feedback, for fear of staff lashback. It seems though that the current staff isn't like that so hopefully people will continue to feel comfortable giving feedback here.
I think if it's a specific feedback someone wants a response to, they could PM the staff member directly. Although staff really should be looking at this thread on a regular basis (and should at least acknowledge the feedback). I remember coming here first or second after logging on.

Best thing is to be direct and point people out specifically. That way if they don't at least acknowledge feedback here, Mona and/or Holly can maybe have a little word or something.

When's lately? Jane's here but she just hasn't been posting as much. She knows about her inactivity and she said she will work on it. So I'd give her another week. I spoke to her exactly a week ago (and other staff members have acknowledged it too) and I usually monitor someone for 2 weeks.

And when you are here, what do you do? Close topics? Thats all i ever see you do. Even SinfullySweet helps out more in the design section than you. If you aren't going to do your job well enough, I think you should step down, and let others who are more well deserve, take your place. Kthxbai.

I love that "mom mode" XD
Anyway I think anyone that gets positive or negative critique should at least post so people know that they actually acknowledge their post, ya know?

I mean if it is negative I think at times Staff members can feel a little taken back from it all and don't want to reply instantly because sometimes people get upset, so give them a few days before any posts I would suggest

Kudos to Dee for taking criticism and badgering and maintaining a calm attitude.
Rachael, however, only seems to show up when something negative is being said about her, and when she shows up she's very defensive and seems very closed to criticism. Also as Tung has said, there are others who are much more helpful, and they aren't even hired to do that. Rachael should shape up or ship out.

I wouldn't exactly call it defensive, but the post with 15 smilies make it seem like you're trying to play it off, and also make it seem like you're oblivious to what you're doing. It seems like you don't think you're doing anything wrong, but you're trying to be "nice", even though you could care less about the feedback.

yea agreed, and also in what u do
if u just come here and do the job
that u signed up for, then u don't have to even mess with all this being accused of being defensive, putting too many smilies or bla bla bla whatever. otherwise just step down and let others who have time to do the job do it. that's my opinion at least, not just to rachael but any staff member in general who's criticized for not being active enough.
most of us are in school, ect. if ur busy ur busy, that's understandable. i don't get the point though in keeping a staff position and putting that much more stuff on ur shoulders to mess with if u really don't have time for it. it just seems like it would be better for everyone involved in those people would just step down.
so yeah, i agree with steven i suppose, shape up or ship out.

i add smilies to be sarcastic. a lot of people do, because theyre so ridiculous. i think people should keep that in mind. not everyone is being nice when theyre using the smilies.
on a side note,
there are a lot of things that design staff can do that regular members cant really see. if theyre in the queue all day, you can only see that by going through every new layout/graphic/script to see who approved it. so telling them that all they do is close topics when they know that theyve been active elsewhere, is a bit unneccessary.

I have to agree on that one. They are design staff after all. *shrug* But thats just my 2 cents.
And as for the smilies, I agree on sometimes they are a good little additive just to make sure things don't get across in the wrong way, as long as they aren't overdone.

OK I'm just going to put my 2 cents in... as trish previously said most of DS work in behind the scenes so if you really want to see their full activity check the # of layouts graphics scripts ect. they have moderated. In my opinion the last two days Rachael was been doing an awesome job she is constantly in the queue and her activity has been up. Hopefully this won't just be a two day thing.
Steven
Oct 25 2007, 02:46 PM
Hopefully not. I might add, I was on staff guys. Because I was on staff I should be respected. I know how things go down on staff. I was once myspacepeople staff. I know how staff works. I was on staff, don't forget that I was on staff.
Regardless of my compulsive need to tell y'all about how I was on staff, Rachael's activity is a recent thing to the best of my knowledge. She was questioned plenty backstage as well, and I remember she didn't seem to be too active in the queue. This may be in part because of Holly and Mike completely owning it up, but who knows.
