But it's already been determined we can't just learn the tracker. It's something that comes with time and experience. Josh knows more than we will probably ever know on the subject.

Steven
You posted here first.

I honestly don't think that we need to hire someone just for tech stuff. People make topics in Feedback about their problems with the tracker and anyone can reply to them and be reliable... they don't need to be on staff or have their own group to help out ermm.gif I think there was a topic that Jusun made backstage when he made the tracker public, but that was pretty much a basic thing of the functions of the tracker and such... nothing in detail.

Before you read my reply, I am going to tell you how you should take this post. Do not take it as an attack on staff. I'm not yelling. I'm not upset. I know that often times I'm so blunt that people get offended. Take my words exactly for what they are. There is no hidden puzzle/message that needs to be solved or understood.

These are my comments/concerns regarding all of your posts:

I'm not going to change my personality for a website that I volunteer on. Many may have a problem with this. I'm not going to become more of an a-hole, but I may become less of one. This will only happen if it happens naturally. All I'm saying is that there will be no Josh metamorphosis when I get hired. I'm not going to hatch out of an cocoon and become this "tactful" (a word used far to often on this site) social butterfly.

As far as being hired during a "hiring season" goes, I will not be hired during a "hiring season". Every hiring season I have been in sucked. Every single one sucked. I'm not going to apply. I'm not even going to post in the thread. In my mind, hiring seasons are a joke and will always will be a joke. Hiring seasons are biased and full of bullshit. Maybe this one will be different, but I don't care. I'm not going to be there to find out.

I really don't care if I'm hired, but I will do my job if I'm hired. If you have a problem with me not being ecstatic about this "opportunity", too bad. I will always have the idea that I am nothing more than a member. Being on staff doesn't change anything. I'm not better than anyone else, and no-one else is better than me.

This is volunteer work, and I will always have this attitude. I'm on these forums fairly often and will spend time working on them, but I will not give a damn if someone starts saying that I don't contribute enough. If I don't get around to doing everything one big mouthed member thinks I should be doing either:
  1. The expectations are to high, or
  2. My REAL LIFE has come between me and the website.

I would not apologize. Real life is more important than a website. I have see so many people struggle to be "active". I'm not going to be one of them. I will however try my best to let everyone know when I will not be available to do my volunteer work.

In the end I will always do my best. I know plenty about the information technology field. I make a decent living knowing about it. I work for a CPA firm, they appreciate my work, and pay me well for it. When it comes to questions about technology (especially networking), I probably know my stuff better than anyone on this website (aside from Ju-sun) and will continue to learn more and more (as it is my real life job to do so). We all have areas of expertise, and this one is mine.
Michelle
You're not going to get hired anytime soon. Don't worry.

P.S. Josh, I think you would do a wonderful job. Don't get me wrong.
Steven
And Josh, we should hope you wouldn't change.

There aren't any technically knowledgeable staff because there aren't that many technically knowledgeable members, because the staff (incompetent both socially and technically) drives them away with their shitty behavior.

I actually would like to see Josh a staff member. He's very knowledgeable in many ways, and I think he's a well rounded guy. In my opinion it would boost the People Staff's crew currently, immensely.

^x3 well I'm sorry, I didn't know I had a shitty attitude or behavior. I mean I was a slight bitch to the one person in mod proformance but she had the wrong idea about this website considering she thought we were all getting paid to be on staff and that the feedback and this whole forum was just a support forum for the tracker.

Other than that I would love to see examples of my shitty behavior _smile.gif

I thought josh was going to be like a tech guy not a people staff o_O
Steven
I don't know if he's talking about the staff as a whole, but I agree that Josh would be a fun addition.

^laugh.gif I just always wanted to reply to great almighty kyro and seek his great advice of how to become "the perfect staff memeber"

I guess I'll agree, I think Josh would be a great addition to people staff. I mean if we have a mini hiring hes not going to go for it because LAST time he ever tried getting on staff. He got member bashed to no end by people. (of course thats when he became the ass he is today on the forums because people treated him that way)

So he thinks their biased and hes not going to get in the middle of stupid shit like that again.

But yea, I've always thought he would be a good addition to people staff, he has the attitude for it and hes been a mod on other forums in the past I'm pretty sure o_O
Steven
Holly. Sorry, pet peeve. Their = possessive. They're = they are.

Also, BIAS BIAS BIAS!!!!!! jaykay though.

Josh, your behavior has improved from what is was before. If you keep improving (you don't have to change who you are), and keep up your activity you would be a great candidate for People Staff in a future hiring session.

Suzette, my behavior hasn't changed. I just don't have James and his posse of ass pirates breathing down my neck anymore. This is where you are wrong.

Also, I will never apply for a hiring session. They are a joke. Every one has been a terrible experience. I really don't want to bother with another one.
Tung
kyrogenix, you continue to make me laugh with your hate.

Josh - what Steven said.

Seriously, though. If, perhaps, the staff was willing (which they're not) to do a Q&A with you to test your knowledge, then I think that should be enough.

You shouldn't have to be on People Staff to have to contribute. Wtf does People Staff have to do with the Tracker anyways? I'd love to learn how to work the tracker and be able to answer all the questions, but I can't.

You can do it without having a title, if you wish, but I'm assuming you don't wanna spend the time answering and figuring out every little question.

The staff can't do a Q&A about my knowledge. They don't have any knowledge on the subject. You can't test someone with questions if you don't know the answers to the questions. For all they know I could make everything up, and they would believe me because I'm the expert on the subject. As long as it was slightly above their head and made a little bit of sense, they would believe it because they don't know any better. Truthfully, the only person who can Q&A me is Ju-Sun.
Insurmountable
^very very true.

Anywho the admins and head staff don't think we need anyone ..
so i guess this is out of the question.

Oh the other hand.

The admins and heads want to do a mini hiring for this. And since Josh WILL NEVER EVER APPLY IN A HIRING SESSION, he won't be on staff sad.gif

No, it's a test. Comptia A+ exam is a test that gets you the A+ certification. Think of it like the SAT for computer knowledge. It covers the basics that every PC Repair guy or gal (in this case) should know. It's almost like a test that sets a standard for the PC Repair field.

If you had the choice between hiring a person who has their A+ or a person who says they know a lot about computers, you would hire the person who has their A+ because you wouldn't have to take their word for it.

Oh, I see. Well Dani mentioned that she would probably not be able to cover all the questions to people's content, and it seemed you would. So I just wanted to suggest that you two partner up (along with others and Jusun... if it could happen) and discuss the frequently asked q's, the more technical questions, etc. and possibly make a temporary FAQ. shrug*

I would have to look into the program more. Also, I would have to spend time with the people who are having issues. I don't know what issues are frequently asked.
Michelle
Tis okay. The idea was shot down.

I wish Suz would have just replied to my face instead of hiding backstage. Oh well, this is for you Suzette:

I get the impression that you want me to "work" for a staff position. I feel like a dog. I feel like someone is waving a treat in front of my face. Trouble is, the treat is a big juicy piece of broccoli and not a big piece of steak. You don't get it. I wouldn't mind doing being on staff, but I don't care if I'm not hired either. I would do my best and probably be one of the best additions to staff you have ever seen. However, I will never humor you by applying durring a hiring season. If you want to hire a less qualified person. That's fine. I don't care. I have fun on this website as it is. I don't need to be a Staff Member to continue to have fun.

Oh, I also get the impression that you want me to help out of the goodness of my heart, that I don't need a position, and that there is no reason to put me on staff. You're right, I don't need a position, but at the same time don't expect me to jump in and answer questions that cannot be answered by your staff. You're paying your staff whether you realize it or not. Whether it be though appreciation or recognition as a staff member. If I'm going to be responsible for answering technical questions I want to be payed for it. I hope you understand. To be frank, this would be a give/take relationship and not a take take take from Josh's shallow pool of kindness relationship. It takes time and effort to respond to technical posts, this is the kind of time that I don't have if I'm not going to be recognized or appreciated for it.

I'm glad that your staff knows how to appreciate a helping hand. As for you, I'm not so sure. Appreciation goes a long way. Listening to them. I know that you don't want to be like the old staff. If you don't want to be like them. Then try something new. Start by replying here instead of hiding backstage. *sarcastic* I hope I showed enough tact for you.

I know that you're talking backstage about me because you asked Holly to talk to me. She didn't tell me anything about what was said. I'm just not an idiot. If you're not talking here. You are talking about there.
Michelle

Anyway I don't think it would be best for Josh to really be on design staff. Like I've already said -___-

He doesn't know anything else that would be in the design forums but the tracker issues. So thats why we were suggesting him having his own title or his own just CB support.

yea he could work on people staff better in the end I think. Hes way more active there anyway. And he uses his knowledge there well in technology.
