Should schools make their crappy ass lunches? or should they just order from restaurants?

Jun 17 2004, 05:28 PM
i think school lunches are food from people that supply food for prisons

Well...school lunches are kinda...bad. But after all, theyre kinda cheap, they come free from prisons, and it helps those that have low income by providing free lunch.
Well, that's what my school does.

Hmm...it would cost more to get them from restaurants, so I don't think they'd go for that. I think it's better to have them spend money on other things that would help students out more. Hmm...also, I don't think it would fit the "healthy" guidelines if we ordered them from McDonald's.

the food at my school isn't so bad, they order pizza from pizza hut and stuff but it gets tiring to eat day after day with all the oil.....btw did u guys know that the salads at mcdonalds has more fat than the cheeseburger?

You shouldn't expect much from school lunches. They're there to simply satisfy the need for hunger (not necessarily your taste buds) and are usually expected to meet the nutritional values that most schools require of them for the health of the students. They're also very inexpensive in order that students from low-income families would be able to afford them and not go hungry. If you want the satisfaction of taste and good quality, go to a restaurant.

school lunches are frozen, and provided by a government contractor. we need better food. and they can do it.

Yes, but it would be more, and as someone said before, it wouldn't be fair to those that can barely afford those type of lunches.

Yes, but at what cost? Furthermore, there is always the option of packing your lunch, you know.

i pack my lunch. i just wish sometimes i could get real food, you know the kind you actually cook, from the school cafateria. they don't cook. the heat up the food. it's cheaper to get food precooked in a factory and just heat it up.

the caf food @ my school is pretty good....but in the bigger schools, they have like a McDonalds and a Taco Bell, which really pisses me off!

My school's lunches are nasty.

The meat is not real, alot of food isn't clean looking, the bread is almost always stale.
That's why 1/2 of the school brings their own lunches.

well i dont buy my lunch... so i wouldnt know... but yehh it would cost more of they ordered out.. and the kids would have to pay more also.. school lunches are not that bad though... i mean you have a choice to buy or bring...

Jun 18 2004, 05:31 PM
I eat PB&J's. I've made friends with all of the people working in the cafateria, so I always get a sandwhich haha. Once I was late and they ran out, so the lunch lady made one just for me.

It doesn't matter to me, besides, my school isn't made of money. I don't go to a public school where we can get resturant quality food. They give us gross stuff, but you can eat it.

Uhm, first off, the students are not required to buy the lunch. If they detest the lunches so, they are permitted to bring their own lunches to school. At least they give you some food.
Suck it up.

if they ordered from fast food restaurants, then the state would enforce laws against it.

Most of the lunches are crappy but some are good.
I wish they did a better way of preparing it.
I however stop eating school lunch and buy food from my school store like Cup noodles and stuff.

Jul 30 2004, 07:04 PM
i don't care if they're crappy or not as long they're healthy, but in my school, they're not. they serve us burgers, fries, and oily pizza every single day. okay, maybe once in a while some other thing but that other thing is just as unhealthy.
i think a lot of the times, they just reheat the leftovers which is just sick because it makes the food all soggy. *gag*
i think ordering from restaurants is unnecessary. if they'd just make the darn food healthy and fresh, there wouldn't be a problem because no one can really complain.
i bet there are lots of things we don't know that have to do with school lunches. someone should make a documentary about that... and come to our school. i should've saved that expired nacho cheese they served us once.

this year, i`m skipping lunch . one reason is because it`s just plain nasty . another reason is because when we get our lunches the lines are hella long .. and by the time when you get them and eat, you always miss your next period . and if you miss your period . then you get in trouble .

so i`m skipping it and eat lunch at home after school .
