When Robert Pattinson was cast as the movie's actor? Haha, half kidding.

Bianca, the update also says the entire NY and LA shows will be broadcast online. I hope they're HQ.

So I'm rereading Twilight, and I've just passed the part where Edward invites Bella to ride with him to Seattle.

I had never realized that they hadn't talked or looked at each other for 6 WEEKS after the car crash.

"I couldn't believe the rush of emotion pulsing through me --- just because he'd happened to look at me for the first time in a half-dozen weeks."

Twilight, p. 72

I don't know why I never caught that, but it just made me feel bad for Bella having to endure those weeks without talking to Edward. haha

Yeah, she's going on tour to promote/celebrate Breaking Dawn's release.

murderwaltz: Well, it's not like the NY and LA events will be that different from the Chicago one. It'll be basically the same thing at every location.

I'm just going to say this and get it off my chest.
I hate Twilight. I REALLY hate Twilight. I hate Bella and all her whines. I hate the vampires and their sparkliness. I hate the cult behind it. I hate the whole "OMG Edward is so~ much better than Jacob!!" debate. I hate everything about it. Simple as that.
But I don't dislike you people for liking it, so don't take it personally. It's just an opinion.

I DO however like Stephanie Meyer's writing style. She comes up with some extremely quotable sentences that make me say 'whoa'. Her book The Host sounds so good! I'm going to check it out from the library soon. How is it?

I don't like the cult either, but that's why I'm not in it. No one here better brick me for this, but Twilight is NOT the best book ever written, the series is not the best ever, and Stephenie Meyer isn't the greatest writer of all time. I don't think Edward is "OMG so perfect, I wish he were mine."

Really? I think Stephenie Meyer's writing style is the one thing keeping me from liking her books more. A good author should show rather than tell, but she does a lot of telling, which I don't like. I can show better than she does. ermm.gif
berrypop90
Yeah, the writing could be better. I agree. I was mostly talking about how she can come up with lines that touch me. I guess I didn't word it right. Whatever, I don't care. tongue.gif

I don't think you've read enough good fiction if you think Stephenie Meyer doesn't tell too much. She explains so much in a too-straightforward manner... I'm not sure how to explain it, but just, meh.

Aw. Twilight isn't so bad. I can only try and understand where you're coming from. I agree with the cult and Bella as well on some level. Heh, but I do love the vampires and their sparkliness. :P I also agree that Twilight isn't the best book out there. I'm a book worm and I have read other books better then this series, but I still like it. Maybe it is the lines that catch my attention. Or maybe it is Edward - because I'm not going to lie.. I am one of those "OMG EDWARD" fans. But I can control that, haha. However, I think I like it mostly because it was something I clinged too when I was going through hard times.

Oh well "to each his own"

July 7, 2008

(This is from Stephenie, so don't just skip over it thinking that it is another boring message from the webmaster.)

It's almost August, and I'm counting down to the release of Breaking Dawn just as anxiously as you are! I can't wait to finally be able to discuss everything that happens in Breaking Dawn with you. I want to give a heads up to everyone going to the Breaking Dawn Concert Series events in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle: I am going to talk about it all, so bring earplugs if you haven't finished reading Breaking Dawn by then! (If you're going to the first event in New York, it will be spoiler free.)

Speaking of spoilers, I want to ask you guys for a favor. As we saw with Eclipse (not to mention that last Harry Potter book), there is always the potential for copies of the book to be leaked early. My publisher is doing everything they can to prevent this, but there is only so much that can be done. This is the favor: if someone, somewhere, somehow, gets a copy early, I'm asking you to please not post any spoilers on the internet. And if you see something, please don't spread it around. Breaking Dawn was meant to be experienced in a certain way, and I would hate for someone to get that experience ruined by seeing something online they didn't want to see. My fans have been super cool about this in the past—last year in particular you guys went above and beyond to protect Eclipse until the release date—and I hope that we'll have the same positive experience this year.

If somebody does post a spoiler (and remember there will be a lot of hoaxes out there—do not believe everything you read: Bella gets eaten by a polar bear, anyone?), I'd love your help in getting them taken down. My publisher has set up a special e-mail account, bdcopyrightviolation@hbgusa.com, for fans to alert us to spoilers that appear online. PLEASE only send links to spoilers. E-mails about events, contacting me, etc. will not be returned.

Another thing you may notice close to the release of Breaking Dawn is that the message boards on several fansites will be taken down. They are doing this as a favor to me because I want to protect you all from stumbling upon something that could ruin the book for you. There will be plenty of time to discuss all the details of the book after August 2nd.

Finally, I don't think I could ever thank all of you enough for being so devoted to this series. You've proved over and over again that you are the best fans in the world. I hope that together we can make sure everybody gets to experience Breaking Dawn the way it was intended — on August 2nd [or the 4th if you live outside North America].

We're almost there!

--Steph

is that why Twilight Lexicon wont let me post? ermm.gif

hmm makes sense.

Are you guys going to Breaking Dawn pre-parties, at Barnes and Noble or your main book chains? I don't know if I'd dress up or stay the whole time. I didn't preorder it. I went to a Harry Potter release once, and it took forever. And I don't think any of my friends are as obsessed as I am haha.
JokeInsideJoke
im going to mine. i talked my friend (who hasnt read the books) into going with me and dressing up. it should be fun! but are they going to have games or whatever they had at the HP party? huh.gif what kind of games can you make from Twilight?

The message boards have now been fixed. (Thanks to our wonderful Tech guru 24601!) As a reminder you will have the next 2 hours, until 9pm EST. to post on the front page and the message boards. At that time the message boards will be locked and the front page comments will be turned off until August 3rd as requested by Stephenie. We will continue to post Twilight news as usual, just with the comments turned off.

June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun

honestly though, when I read the draft for Midnight Sun (the first chapter) I thought all the talk about HOW to kill her got a little old after awhile. I understand that that would be a really big thing in his mind, but I hope she finds some way to make it less "step-by-step."
