I found this article to be rather interesting: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/203/story_20329_1.html

What are your thoughts on revirginization? Can you actually be a virgin a second time around or is it long gone once its lost? Do you believe in it?

uhm...i think the biggest problem with revirginization is that many think of it physically instead of mentally. is there a difference between revirginization and celibacy?

reading through that article, it makes me think of "Revirginization" as some form of brain washing.

i wonder how the countless years of "Virgin" meaning "never having sex" can all of a sudden turn into somebody who has a child-like heart.

sounds ridiculous.

Honestly, I don't think it (revirginization) really has much to do with physical sexuality.

It's just like religion. Some people like that comfort of knowing that rape or your "first mistake" doesn't really count, and others don't really care about the so-called value of virginity.

Once its lost, its lost...

Well I call "revirginization" something different, "rededicating oneself" or a "renewed virgin."

Anyways, though the person may not physically be a virgin but spiritually they are.

They have dededicated themselves to staying a virgin until marriage and I WOULD consider them a virgin.

I think it takes a lot more will power to stay a virgin after having sex, and rededicating ones self.

the thing is ...

what does virgin means?

people are changing the meanings around. i mean, wtf!

I always thought being a virgin meant never having sexual intercourse. I really never thought that it meant your innocence was gone. I didn't really think about the mentality part. What is being a non virgin other than having intercourse?

I think that it depends. For someone who is raped or forcefully/sexually abused, I think that this is a reality. Virginity is just a mind set. You loose that mindset when you make a decision to loose your virginity because you gain that experience. For someone who has their phisical virginity taken from them (someone who hasn't mentally made that decision), I think that it's still possible for them to keep their virginity(innocence).

The town bicycle, on the other hand (the girl who makes that decision to sleep with every guy on the block), I don't think she can be "saved". She's long gone.
