Yep it could be to old and you need more memory

Have you tried to defrag? And how many gigabites is it?

Too many files maybe? OR you might have some programs (usually messengers) that are set to start when your computer starts. That'd slow it down too.

Try disabling those.

Yes, defrag and do system clean-up.

Also bring up task manager and close all those excess programs. >_> Steven had to do that for me. ^_^"

How much ram do you have? How much video ram do yo have? Is your video ram shared? Have you downloaded a lot of programs or installed a lot?

RAM (Random Access Memory) basically lets you multitask. The less you have, the harder it is to multi task. When you install something it can put its own little registry bit in and part of it (be it automatic update or whatnot) starts when your computer starts. When you get a whole ton of programs going at the start of windows (I assume you have windows) then the RAM starts getting used up.

To fix:
>Start Menu
>Run
>Type "msconfig"
>go through the far right 2 tabs, and get rid of anything you recognize and don't think you care for (i.e. qttask, itunesupdate, etc etc)

Just google the services before you get rid of them to make sure you're not taking out anything you actually want to start on startup.

Also, disable disk indexing. Right click on any HDD's connected to your computer and select the option for "Properties". At the very bottom of the Properties menu you will see a check mark next to "Allow Indexing service to allow Indexing of this disk...", uncheck that. It will speed up your computer a bit, and free up space on your hard drive.

Another thing you can do is disable system restore. The only downfall to this is that you won't be able to turn back time if your computer shits the bed. Anything for the extra speed. ;]

Also, goto Start and select "Run...". Type "services.msc" in the text box and hit the enter key. This will bring up a list of services that are running on your computer. I would suggest running down this list on the following website and disabling many of them.

Hell... just goto google, and type in tweakguides.

Or you might have a low rpm hard drive, depending on how old it is. Do you know any stats on your computer, dark?
