alright, i've had my macbook for a while, but i still don't know how to do this. okay, when i close my computer's lid, it automatically goes to sleep. is there a way to disable that? maybe a third-party program? it's not really a big deal, but it'd always be nice to keep my computer on while the lid is closed, to listen to music or to keep aim online, just in case i get a message when i'm out or something. thanks in advance. :]

yeah, i hate it when it disconnects me from the internet, especially when downloading something or whatever.
and i'm always using the 'cracked open a bit' thing, but it looks retarded, and then my dad eventually closes it, so then there's no point. T.T
well, thanks anyways. i'll just keep searching somewhere. :D

i don't know if ur just closing it for privacy reasons or not, but thats usually why i close it. so instead of closing it i just use the screen brightness buttons and make it all the way dim when i wanna leave it on.

good luck searching, if u find something i wanna know :)

There should be. I have a Toshiba Satellite U205 and I have an option I can click on called Power Properties Power Saver or something like that. Basically I can dictate what to do when I close the lid, be it hibernate, shut down, or do nothing. I can also use that section to completely disable hibernation/standby completely.

yeah, macbooks are totally different.

Try using:
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22211/insomniax

or

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo...7&mode=info

Apple doesn't provide a way to disable this feature through the command prompt.

alright, well i downloaded InsomniaX, but once it told me it was going to 'hack' my system, and that it may cause 'heating problems', i wasn't so sure about installing it. i wouldn't want to ruin my macbook. x.x; sometimes it lags when firefox&photoshop are open.
but, i saved the install file on my computer, so if i ever do happen to want to install it, i can always access it. (: thanks for your help.
