I like how the majority of the footage they're showing isn't even correct. The emo quiz, YouTube videos, and "The Emo Song" are not meant to be taken seriously. Not all so-called "emo" people wear black, cut themselves, or are suicidal. Do they honestly think they're going to get a precise definition of the word by roaming the streets and asking random teenagers what they think emo is? They're basing the whole report on sterotypical shit. Most of the music they're playing in the background isn't even emo music. I do agree with most of what Jenna Zimmerman (the counselor) said, except for the gender-bending part. To me, it seems like a lot of people are faking being gay or bisexual for attention or just to be trendy. Hell, it seems like most people who are devoting themselves to being emo are doing it because it's a trend. I feel bad for the Utah kid, though. I'd probably run away too if some annoying news channel put me on the spot like that. The report would have been much better if it was thoroughly researched instead of sloppily put together. Actually, it would've been fantastic if it didn't even exist in the first place.

^ Amen to that.
I'm somewhat confused as to why this is in humor. I didn't really think it was funny...
Anyway, the "Emo" phase that they are talking about has basically faded in my state. It was here like 1-2 years ago, maybe longer.

Man, this was hilarious. It brings new meaning to when people say their parents don't know anything.

I don't see why everyone is getting so hurt about this.
Teen angst I guess.
I don't think it was meant to be serious, and even if it is SO WHAT!
Do what you want, listen to what you want, wear what you want, but honestly
WHY care what people say about it?!?

^ Exactly, and I didn't like how they were sterotyping all self injurers as "emo". It really pissed me off.

The emo stereo type. And the news report.
I think everyone should just chill. Unless it is something that will hurt you life in the long run I think that everyone should just let it slide.
I bet in 5 years no one will even use the term "emo" since half of what people call emo is a poor excuse for a boy band.

Aug 6 2007, 11:05 PM
^ Exactly. I was watching TRL today and they were talking about boys like girls being emo and I was like wtf they are pop, pop alternative if that. There are some other bands that people think are emo where im like what the hell are you talking about? Fall out boy being one of them.

that makes me mad. talk about ignorant.
but i don't think emo really exist. a lot of "emo's" are into it for attention. really "emo" is like...the new rich. instead of being rich, we want to be "emo".
see what i'm saying here?
too many people exagerate themselves, and call themselves "emo".
don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that all do...
but a lot do.
it pisses me off beyond belief.
anybody with me here?

Nope. A lot of people classify themselves as Emo because they like the way they dress. A lot of people are overly emotional (see pubescent teens) and can easily be classified into that category. Not with you, at all.
edit: you shouldn't let the internet get you mad, really. Not healthy, what with rising blood pressure over pointless things.
