It's really embarrassing, but I do.
It used to be just the normal amount.
The dandruff would come sometimes, but then it would go away.
Lately, it's really bad.
I don't know why. It's just...terrible and shameful.
I can't get rid of it and my mom doesn't want to take me to the doctor.
Instead, she just bitches at me about it.
So what can I do? What type of shampoo or home remedies would work?

Have you tried head and shoulders? I've never had dandruff, so I dont know the feeling. I know head and shoulders is pretty overrated, but from what I've heard, it actually does work.
Oh btw, why is your mom neglecting taking you to the doctor? Maybe, if it gets really bad, you really should start making it manditory that she DOES take you.

^Then, if it gets really serious, you should go see the doctor. He/she will presribe something that will get rid of the dandruff. Until then, all I can tell you is to try and keep your hair as clean as possible, and wash your hair throughly everday.

^ well head and shoulders doesn't go into all that detail i think? unlike pantene that has all those SMOOTH AND SLEEK and etc, i think head and shoulders is just pretty straightforward

You might have some sort of disease... (not that it's bad or anything). My friend has it, and she has a ton of dandruff. She has to use a special shampoo to keep it under control ^_^" You can probably talk to your hairdresser or doctor about it if Head and Shoulders or any other regular dandruff shampoo does not work.

Prevention has an article about dandruffSomething I found interesting from that article is that they suggest that you don't stick to the same dandruff shampoo because your skin may be immune to it. There's also a nice list of shampoos to look for other than Head & Shoulders.

If its not helping, then I really do think you should check it up with your doctor. He'll prescribe something for you to use.

Head and Sholders works really good so does this other kind but I forgot what it was called. Its brown, it works double head and sholders. Maybe I will ask my mom what its called. I will post it later.

My brother has dandruff, and the Head & Shoulders shampoo really work wonders on him.

You might want to give these home remedies a try (I got them from eHow.com) - Mix 8 tbsp. peanut oil with the juice of half a lemon. Rub the mixture into your hair, leave on for 10 minutes and then wash as usual. Add 3 drops of tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic, to a small amount of shampoo and then wash your hair. Rinse your hair with a solution of 1/4 c. vinegar and 1 qt. water. Use an infusion of the herbs chaparral or thyme as a hair rinse.
Good luck!

Eh My mom is like that too. Home remedies for everything >.>
For my dandruff she massaged my scalp with warm coconut oil. I dunno if that works or not, because I found I have a serious problem with people touching my head.
But yeah, I reccomend going to a doctor. Set up your own appointment if she's not willing to.

I HEAR YOU.
I'm pretty much the same, and when I switched to Head and Shoulders it really did help.
Where I am, we've got lots of dandruff shampoo's that benefit your scalp and all..
Some of it's expensive but if you find it, it's worth a try
