any, basically? looks to be just edited contrast, light/darkness and perhaps curves [photoshop]. if i know any better, contrast & editing brightness is available for like every program. either that or it could be thanks to their camera's flash + contrast [this is minus the curves XD]

It doesn't really look edited to me. It looks like their camera made the pictures look that way.

I have a friend who does that kind of photos sometimes. Sometimes they have lighting background, they would turn there lights on (like a lamp or something) and they take there picture right next to it so it shines.
Also the camera can have illuminate or something like that in the settings (mine does) and it makes things brighter.

If you want to use effects in Photoshop, try this:
Open the picture
Duplicate the background layer
Gaussian blur (between 2.5 and 6.0)
Change the layer to Overlay
Merge all of the layers
