are you close to your grandparents? i was thinking about this while reading a book in school for english. the boy was very close to his grandfather, almost as close to him as his dad.
i tend to be close to my moms side more then my dads. most likely because my moms side like 5 minutes away rather then about 40 minutes.

Relationships IMO.
I'm not at all. I live with my grandmother from my mom's side and my other one is in Vietnam. My grandfathers passed away before I even knew how to speak. I don't really speak to my grandma..

Not really. I never got to know my grand parents on my father's side, and I've only met my grandmother on my mother's side. We get along, but she travels all over the place, so I don't see her that often.

Yeah, I guess. I was always at their houses when I was little, and they would buy me stuff all the time and take me and my brother out to eat and whatever, but we don't really talk about much anymore. They're not exactly good listeners.

Not at all... They never really do anything when they visit (which is rare). They just want to go to chinatown and get the same things in huge amounts like they always do:huh:

I don't have any grandparents.
My grandpas died before I was born and when I was 8.
Then my grandmas died when I was 2 and 3.
I think I would be close to them if they were alive. They sounded like fun people from the stories I have heard.

i miss mine... they were from my dad's side and my dad was the super super respectful son type so loads of visiting and stuff..i wish they were still here. sigh..
..family is one of the only people that actually love you..well usually, but i mean its less likely they're gonna try to BACKSTAB you or something..they love you unconditionally and are always caring.
my grandmother, ALL SHE EVER DID, was make me eat. i mean seriously, i would be eating with FOOD IN MY MOUTH, and she'd be like EAT MORE EAT MORE *stuffs food on plate. at the time it was annoying, but now i think back and i can see that it was only because she cared.

My grandparents and I are not close at all. My grandfathers died before I was born, so I've only met my grandmothers.
The majority of my extended family is trash, so I honestly don't care.

Im close to both my mom, and my dads side but moastly my moms. Im close to my grandmother but not really my grandpa because hes usually grumpy or bossy. My dads mom died when I was little and my dads dad died when he was a kid.

All my grandparents are dead except my mom's mom.
She stays at my house.
I take care of her. Set up her medicine for the week, take her blood sugar every morning/evening, inject her with insulin. Make her breakfast. Water her plants/flower garden.
I don't have a close verbal relationship with her but I care for her.
I was there for her to call 911 when she had a heart attack in our living room. She teaches me how to cook filipino food. She'll pass away soon. Shes pushing 90

Well, my grandparents on my dad's side passed away before I was born. I'm really close to my grandpa on my mom's side, tho. We talk a lot over the phone and I've only seen him once since he lives in the UK. But, I'm glad we're close!

Well I only have 2 out of 4 left, but I was always closer to my moms sides because I saw them more...they only lived in LA as compared to my dads who lived in the Philippines...

I'm closer with my grandparents on my dads side verses my mothers side. My grandfather on my mothers side died when I was real young so I really dont know him. And my grandma on her side is all right. We dont talk really. On my dads side my grandpa is pretty cool, I have a lot of respect for him. We dont talk much either. Now my grandma on the other hand. She’s awesome I love her. We talk pretty often.

I'm close to my grandma on my mom's side. I barely talk to my grandmas (I have two) and grandpa on my dad's side. Everytime I try to call them they're in St.Vincent.

I was always extremely close to my mom's mother. Unfortunately she passed away from cancer a few years ago... and it was almost like losing an actual parent. And then I'm somewhat close to my mom's dad.
But them my dad's parents.... ehhhh. I'm kinda close to my grandma, but I've never been alone with her or anything like that. I've never spent the night or really ever gone anywhere with her either. She's more of the quiet/reserved type, so our conversations have always been small. And then my grandpa died when I was 9, but I wasnt really close to him either. He didnt like my mom.

*sigh*

All my grandparents passed within two year increments by the time I was around 14 or 15. However, I was pretty close with all of my grandparents. More so with my mom’s parents because they lived closer. My grandpa from my mom’s side had always picked me up afterschool and saved me from the daycare center I used to go to. The teachers there were really mean :[ But yeah, my grandpa would save me and take me to get ice cream. And sometimes I would sleep over and he would make me pancakes the size of my head. Best pancakes ever.
My grandma from my dad’s side would always make me and my brother jello. And she made sure she would always have those Kool-Aid bottles for us too, haha.

I'm sorry

...it's sweet that you take care of her, though. (wow, 90...impressive =))

My mom's mom died when I was only a year old, possibly younger. Her dad was my favorite grandparent...he also came to our house to visit us...(and us to his) He lived maybe 20 minutes away. He died when I was in 5th grade. I still miss him.
My dad's parents are both pretty judgemental, so although I love them, (I mean, they
are my grandparents)we're not insanely close...I'll never forget the Christmas when my Grandpa told me that I was fat.

My grandparents are all in their early 60s

. But they all live upwards of 3000 miles away D:. My dads parents live in California, and my moms parents live in the Philippines (and my family lives in MA

). I'm not really close to them, since they do live so far away. Their english is limited too, so it's kind of hard to communicate when I do visit them.

I only had my grandpa

and he passed away when I was 10.
I still miss him dearly. He taught me all my values and how to be the person that I am today. I just hope that wherever he is, he's proud of who I've become. It was really hard on me when I lost him, because he lived with us and was the first close person to me that passed. I, seriously, cried for an entire year. I learned so many things from him and whenever I make big decisions (like currently looking into college, majors, etc.) I think of what he would suggest and tell me. I miss my Opa...
