As a member on CB I ran across some jockers, that jocked me. I'd like to announce them because if they jocked me, they would jock
YOU, so when they submit a layout, check out their codes and make sure they're not your codes.
A jocker is always a jocker.Jockers:
ChirikiDelicioustyle*Ultimate MySpaceIf you know of any more jockers, list them here. I think we have a right to know who our jockers are.
These jockers are most active in website. The name with the * means they've jocked twice.
Edit: Fixed most grammatical errors..

I had a jocker, but she gave me credit so we're cool now. Part of the reason that I wanted to come to an agreement with her was because the layouts she made were cute and I didn't want to see them go away. =/
On the layouts below, I noticed that people had called the creator out on jocking in the comments, but nothing was done about it. But it's really a shame, because the Angelina Jolie one is really pretty:
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/code.php?id=18382(Oamazing's code, according to SinfullySweet)
http://fawaz.createblog.com/layouts/code.php?id=17871OmarGarcia's code, according to him.

Here's my suggestion. If you see a jocker report it and don't comment on it. We can't read any comment and its being takin care of. The layout by O amazing I'm waiting for her to PM me back. Usually I would of thought she would of PMed one of the mods so I don't know if they made some sort of comprimise to allow them to keep it up. She seemed like a person who'd report it. So I've pmed her today (since I just found out a hour ago) and I'm trying to contact her in otherwise to see if they made some sort of deal and she said it was ok before its immediately removed and other action is taken.
I need proof before the second one so if the real creator will show us the layout with the code or something.
When people don't report it , its hard to know if they made a sort of comprimise earlier. I could remove the layouts immediately but its not fair if they did make something of the sort, etc. So yea. If you guys see a jocker report it. The mods don't have super powers (DANGGGG!) so we can't get to every comment you post sadly.
Hopefully a report button in the profiles/layout sections can be installed .
Jockers come and Jockers go its life really.

The angelina jolie layout was indeed jocked. 100% Sure. I viewed that layout, and thought the hovers, and the content sections look REALLY familiar, almost exactly the same as O amazings. So I took the code of the Angelina Jolie layout, and O Amazings Trash world layout, pasted both the codes on wordpad, and clicked both documents back and forth. The coding is exactly the same.

I didn't say it wasn't. As I said I already PMed her about it and I'm trying to find other methods to contact her faster. If she changed her mind after commenting the person, not saying she did, but its possible because it happened before. Its not fair to the person.

Until then I'm not going to do anything about it and I prefer to ask her over the person that submitted the layout themselves.
Just incase she said it was ok its better off waiting till she gets back to me. Its just a better way of approaching things.

I did not email the creator of the layout I PMed Oamazing. Its her call so yea. She hasn't replied back to me. Even if you notice someone jocking not all people want the layout removed. Which is the mature way about going about it. As I stated before I'm waiting for OAMAZING to reply back to me. Till then the layout stays.

No, its not that. Imagine, working so hard, spending hours, even days on something. Coding, making it perfect. You work hard on what you do. Only to have someone take it change it, and claim it as they made it.

Sure, I know the feeling. I've even had people change the images to ones they made themselves. Personally, I don't mind them changing the image. What I mean is that if they can change it so that it's different, isn't that the same amount of effort? Where did we get all of "our" coding from? Even if we typed it ourself, can we copyright a language?

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that everyone who has layouts on this site figured out all of the myspace CSS for themselves. A lot of us must have learned at least some of it from other sources. I know that I have used a lot of people's scripts for my own layouts, for hiding various things. I have credited them on my layout pages, but since I didn't come up with all of the hiding codes myself, I can't claim all of the code as my own.

It depends on the way you code. Some people look all over for scripts they need to put something together. Of coure, you cant copyright a language. This is like doing a chore , while your brother takes the credit that he finished the chore.
1angel3
Jun 25 2007, 03:06 PM
well no you can't copyright a language but if you sat down and hand coded it yourself, you should take credit, the person that took it didn't code it thereself so they should credit, its only right

QUOTE(ThomasC @ Jun 25 2007, 12:01 AM)

Well excuse me for saying this, but you can't jock CSS. All you did was put in a few elements, to an already built style sheet. If you created your own than bravo. But it was based on an a langauge that was created already for you.
As far as DIV layouts go, that property does belong to you, becuase you did make the image, which is usually the most important part, and the positioning which takes a long time.
But I don't see holding a grudge over the internet for someone stealing something that you made a good way to spend your time. If they are making money from your layout, and you feel mad about that, then you should have sold it too.
well thats my take on it.
Yeah, I 100% agree with everything you said.
If a Div is jocked, then it's a bit more understandable for someone to go out of their way to rat out the Jocker. But when it comes to basic CSS and standard Myspace layouts, I personally don't think it's that much of a big deal unless the resemblence between the original and the jocked version are quite a lot alike.
I mean, yeah, all in all it's a pretty sneaky thing to do but, like someone said earlier, if they made a great layout with it, and it's not too much of a reseblence to yours, I'd just let it go.

For standard layouts unless someone has done something truly unique with their layout that has been copied, it's true that most of them look the same and are going to be using the same classes and IDs anyway. It's true that in a lot of cases you can't really claim ownership of a stylesheet, but the issue is taking someone else's CSS and just changing some colors/images and using the exact same layout. That takes absolutely no work and is pretty low from a designer's standpoint, don't you think?
I personally don't care if people use/modify/copy my code, though, so I guess I'm not too terribly sympathetic in these situations.
