I know @ my campus tech store they give the nano when you buy a mac, but can you get it from anywhere if you go to that college?

I heard about this also, but you'd basically be paying for it either way lol. Because they're computers range from like $1,000 - $2,000.

Apple does this every year. It's basically a promo for getting kids to buy Macs.

Actually, it's a rebate. You end up PAYING for the ipod, then you get a rebate coupon and get a check for $200 or something later.
Macs aren't that expensive. If you're a student, it's a pretty sweet deal. I planning on getting one this summer.
$1000 is not expensive for a laptop. Anything $1500 and more could be considered expensive, like the Asus w3j for $1700 a while back. Although it is an awesome laptop...
