i'm not sure if this is in the right section. feel free to move.
how do you get unaddicted to something, such as a computer game, video game, myspace [any other website], etc?

Find other things that occupy yourself. Read a book, go running, watch TV or something. Hide the controllers from yourself. Move the parts to the video game to a different room/place (like the t.v.).
This is usually the only way to stop an addiction. Create a way to where you can't get to what you want easily.

Do you have a piano? Any pets? Make up a mind game or something. I can always find something to occupy myself when I'm bored, but.. I'm really easily amused anyway..
Dig up some old puzzles from when you were younger, or look at pictures or something.
This is all related to my first post: Occupy your mind with other things. :]

Yeah, find something else to do. I used to be addicted to playing the Sims (Don't anyone laugh) and eventually I got bored with it and moved on, but that might've been my underlying ADD acting up. Haha. Just go do other things, like wash the dishes.

Wow I feel like a nerd. I used to play mmorpg's and those were huge time sinks. It took me a while, but I had to come to the realization that they wasted so much of my time that could have been spent studying/bettering myself/working. I could be doing so much better in college right now (All A's instead of a bunch of B's, an A, and a C) if not for those damn games. Ive decided to use CB because I love forums, and that's the part of the game that was binding me to it pretty much. Haha oops I started rambling.
Anyways. Find something that you enjoy doing that can be worth doing. You can always try to get ahead in school, get a job, exercise, etc.

Once you can stop playing them for a few weeks they really becomes meaningless. Find something to do on a daily basis. Work out a lot, read a lot of books (go buy new ones), clean your room, study the next calculus chapter, etc.

Study math online lol? Learn a ton of calculus related formulas like the back of your hand (even though I don't know the back of mine too well). You could also start studying for the SAT.

I used to be addicted to world of warcraft a few years back, and I realised toward the end that it wasn't a game any more...it was a chore ...the only way to stop is to uninstall the CD's if the game you play has install discs, break the cd's and just go cold turkey.

^SO TRUE! God that game is horrible. I played for like a year, quit just a month ago. I started to realize that I was logging on only to do very monotonous boring things to get to the next stage of monotony.
