I don't usually get acne, but when I do, I get a LOT of it, and my face turns to a really bad, blotchy red that I can't get rid of. Is there a healthy way to get rid of redness without making it worse?

Um, I know there are a lot of creams you can put on your skin. I use Hydrocortizone (okay, I have no idea how to spell that), which you can buy at a grocery store, on my zits and stuff. But, if you're using acne medication, I would not combine that with it. It helps me out sometimes.
There might be something you can drink or eat? I think it would be best to ask a dermatologist.

Try to stay away from greasy foods and the sun. You should also wash your face in the morning, when you get back from school and at night.

Avoid touching it, don't squeeze it. I use Neutrogena's On-The-Spot Acne Treatment, which you can get at any drugstore + is pretty cheap and effective... it gets rid of any pimple that pops up for me in like 2-3 days. It contains benzoyl peroxide, which dries your pimple out and keeps new ones from coming out. Oh, and make sure you wash your face twice daily.
In the meantime, you may want to wear concealer if you want, it'll cover the redness up. Just make sure you get one that is non-comedogenic so it doesn't clog your pores up. I also hear Maybelline Pure. Foundation is super good at covering up redness, and super gentle on the skin too. Other people have had luck with Bare Minerals, too.
