self explanitory.
i am a vegetarian ... i know some vegetarians eat fish or chicken, but i stay away from ANYTHING with a nervous system, so...

anywho, lately my meals have been blah (i make my own casseroles and meals since everyone else in this family is on team red meat) and every recipe i look up on the internet has some sort of uncommon ingredient... one that i could never get since i live in a small village. so i am wondering, does anyone have any simple but tasty vegetarian recipes out there?!?!

thanks happy.gif

I still don't know if you have any accessible, but if you go to something like a health foods store, I bet you'll be able to find a couple things you could pick up from there. Like boxed recipes and "meatless meats" and the such.

Tofu will be your paper in the vegetarian world.

I'm not sure of any specific recipes, but you can substitute meat in lots of recipes with portobello or porcini mushrooms, which have a sort of beefy flavor that your family might enjoy as well.

Eggplant is a good substitute for steak. No joke.

Eggplant is cheap and so veritile and depending on your recipe needs comes in two different flavors.

If you are looking for a bitter more earthy taste your best shot is with a female eggplant. The way to pick those out is to remmber what traits a female body has-curvy hips.
Female eggplant has a curvy base.

If you are looking for a sweeter taste then a male eggplant is best.Thoe are more narrow based and theres a little tab it as on the wee bottom that it looks literealy like a tiny version of a mans pe....er.....yeah..

I could never become a vegetarian. I love meat too much rofl.
Depends on what kind of food you like really. You could always try stirfries/curries. I personally love cooking asian dishes, as the spice = awesome imo.
Stirfry is pretty damn easy. All you do is heat up a little bit of oil in a wok, then keep adding in the vegetables (seasoned first) and stir it all up. Before you know it you got a wok filled w/ tasty vegetables.
Curry, I'm not soo good @ making. I intend to learn soon though.
Dumplings fit into the learn soon category too haha.

Oh yeah, Rice. :D

Recipe sites:
All Recipes - HUGE vegetarian section. Most of the recipes can be scaled down. It's a favorite of mine.
Shmooed Food - Vegan recipes, some call for out there ingredients, but there are usually substitutes listed. Lots of desserts and baking related stuff here.
Recipezaar - Another fave of mine. A lot of the recipes here are complicated, but worth the work.
30 Minute Meals - A lot of her recipes can easily be made vegetarian by subbing veggies for meat or meat substitutes instead of meat.

Pre-Packaged / Quick Fix Foods
Hmm...look for a brand of foods called Fantastic Foods. They make box and package foods similar to Rice a Roni and Hamburger Helper. Most major grocery stores in the US carry them, although the selection is sometimes lacking. Campbell's soups makes vegetarian [not vegan!] soups that are tasty and not too expensive. Mac N Cheese is vegetarian and there are organic and vegan brands out there.

Another brand of foods to look out for is Lightlife. They're a bit pricey, but some Wal-Marts and major chainstores carry them. I adore their pre-packaged meals like southwest chili and pulled "pork". Also, their burgers, meatballs, and bacon substitutes are awesome.

I Can't Believe It's Vegan - Common everyday foods that just happen to be vegan. If they're vegan, then they are safe for vegetarians. Very helpful, in my opinion.

AHAHHAHAHAHHAA
YOUR TITLE HAS THE WORD SCAT IN IT!

[End moment of immaturity]

Why don't you just Google "vegetarian receipe"? There are probably trillions. Or go to your local grocery store and browse through the tofu-meat stuffs (that is actually really good).
Intercourse.
