i'm asian-american, slightly fobulous? but mainly asian-american. im not embarassed about it either, though.

=D Practically everything in 'fobulous' is true for me...except for the fact that I'm not oriental. But that's all good, lol. ^^

i don't care if i haven't ever tried true buble tea, i like it the way it is now. You got the whitewashed part right. jk

Hey, aren't there any more categories out there for us confused diasporic folk neither here nor there in between the US and Asia???

My main Asian/American-ness specs:

- I LOVE hello kitty and she is ALL OVER MY STUFF: phone, purse, wallet, planner
- I LOVE bubble tea and it's making me FAT!
- MY S/O is not Asian but has been in the past... (NOOO, DIFFERENT partners okay??? NOT the same guy who got a skin graft transplant ala michael jackson)
- I don't own a car -- and in fact I HATE cars AND driving [yay for public transport, down with the american suburbian dream!!!]
- I get extremely good grades in school -- oh yeah... I'm a nerd
- I have taken the Asian Studies course at college
- I'm STILL confused about my cultural identity despite all of those Asian studies classes...
- I cannot dance... yup, it's really embarassing...
- I think dim sum chicken feet, smoking, and fluorescent lights are GROSS
- after living in China for a while, I admit that I sometimes dry my clothes outside my window only IF it's not polluted outside
- ALMOST all of my CD, VCD, and DVDs are bootleg (except for the ones I got through BMG, those supposedly "FREE" ones yeah RIGHT...!!)
- I think I am an ex-Twinkie who has recently "awoken" -- and I am trying to learn as much as possible about my culture to make up for my (PREVIOUS) lifetime of trying to be white
- Not sure if I want to grow to become Fobulous...
- I definitely weigh more than 105 lbs and I HATE high heels AND makeup AND I always smile way too much in public and like colorful (especially ETHNIC) clothes -- so I definitely am NOT a TAB (although my cell phone is on its way to being completely customized and there are definitely sanrio items hanging out in my purse)
- I have Asian friends as well as non-Asian friends [YUP]
- I listen to Asian pop as well as American music [YUP]
- Well, I am equally UNAWARE of both popular American culture and Asian pop culture
- I speak perfect English and I am fluent in my native language (well, that would be ENGLISH but I also speak Chinese fluently after lots of time logged in with those chinese classes in college and time spent in Asia.........)

Help – so what am I???
