Have you ever had this line used on you when breaking up or discussing taking a break? If so, did they really mean it or were they just trying not to hurt you (even though this is the most overused breakup line in history)? Did you feel hurt or were you glad to hear it? Discuss.
I have not had this line used on me, and hopefully I never will. It's bound to happen eventually though.

I've had a similar thing like that.
Kind of like, "Shut the f**k up, it's not your fault, I care about you just as much as before, but I f**king hate your parents because they're doing this to us. I want to be with you but I never can be and I just can't be happy because of it."
It just pisses me off when it's not my damn fault. At least if it was, I'd feel like this was fair.
kwhatever.

Never had that used on me. Hope it never happens. It means many things really. Sometimes its genuine, sometimes it's like it's they use it to escape from the relationship, sometimes they say it because of outside factors like parents or friends interfering.

No. I always do the "breaking up". But I have said, "It's not me, it's you". Although, I probably didn't say it in the tone you're imagining.

Thats a Pimpette right thurr.

Once, and I think he didn't mean it. He told me that it wasn't me, but after we broke up he IMMEDIATELY (literally) got a new gf.

Well, I didn't use that exact line, but I could've in the situation.

But hey, sometimes that line is true in a way...in one case for me, he didn't really do anything wrong, the relationship just faded and I just didn't feel the same anymore so yeah.

my best friend tried to say that to her boyfriend, but she got tongue twisted and ended up saying "it's not me it's you."
It was hilarious!
