Are there any songs (as in lyrics or melody) that you like but the person singing it just totally killed the awesomeness of that song? And you would think it would have been much better if someone else sings it?

The only one I can think of now is The Fray's How to Save a Life. I couldn't stand his voice whatsoever. It's so annoying.

I don't know, I really don't mind the fray... they have some well written songs. I think that the emotion behind the voice is more important sometimes than the tone of the voice -shrugs- I know that sounds weird.

I think there's a lot of songs that are killed when they are remade, like Land of Confusion and Blitzkreig Bop

For me, a song usually gets ruined when a girl who I can't stand runs around school singing it. Like certain immature fruitcakes in my class.

I LOVE Isaac Slade's voice. I can't imagine anyone else singing How to Save a Life. Actually, any other of The Fray's songs either.


There've been remakes that make me ber-serker. There's a hip-hop version of Right Here Waiting that should never of been recorded. Ever.

James Blunt's Goodbye My Lover, to a degree. It'd be amazing if someone like Damien Rice were to cover it, though..

I don't know, I tend to associate the song with the person who sings it, so I don't really imagine it being sung a different way, particularly...

My friend thinks that "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion could be song better by Mariah Carey, but while I can imagine MC doing it, Celine's subtlty works better, imo.

OMG SERIOUSLY! The instrumentals to it is so nice & beautiful.. and then Rihanna starts singing and it just ruins the song. I still love the song though, hahah.

I have yet to find any good remake of "tainted love" besides the one of soft cell.

you know what else annoys me. we'll sit in bio, and our teacher will put on some music....music he likes...and I'm ok wit hthat, because cause its classic rock, and thats what I listen to.

Other people are like "TURN OFF THAT CRAP" and our teacher's like "BITE ME!"
and then they start loudly singing a song that was originally made 30 years ago but badly remade last year.

I say to them "oh sure, your music is SOOOOO original. That song you're singing was originally made 30 YEARS AGO, and this remake SUCKS...you do realize, that half the songs you listen to, are re-makes, and almost all of your "artists" are influenced by Rock artists that I listen to, so when you call my music crap, your calling your own music crap. Don't diss my music, I don't diss yours, you could at least have a bit of respect and dignity for someone else."

I HATE all the covers for those, because their voices just... suck.

Kidz Bop are terrible.

People like Ashley Tisdale, Emma Roberts and Vanessa Hudgens- I do not like their covers for songs at all. ;(

Eh, I have to agree to a degree. Marilyn Manson does some really good cover songs (Halloween, Personal Jesus). I think he's one of the view people who has done cover songs that I actually like, besides Johnny Cash. Haha.

I realize that Missy Higgins has all the emotion and grit and la la la la, but srsly, love the lyrics, not the voice.
